BOYS Region C: Glenvar 55 Dan River 47- FINAL - HUGE UPSET in Region C

It's official and confirmed by a second source, so I guess it's true:

Massive upset in Region 2C boys. Number 1 seed Dan River goes down. Final from Ringgold: 9 Glenvar 55 1 Dan River 47

Look pal, if you ain't in your top 2 on your region, you aren't going to state, so yes, Dan River is done. Got it?

Why are you being an asshole? The old system had automatic qualifiers, I was just making sure that meant Dan River, who some pegged as the second best team in 2A, is eliminated in the first round of the Region C tourney at home. I don't see the need for attitude at an earnest question.

I recall back about 2012/13 that Glenvar knocked off:
/upset Radford in a similar fashion, I’m guessing DR had an off night and Glenvar was having the game of the year or Glenvar has improved a heckuva lot since I saw them early on season

So are they still going to make the 3 teams from the TRD travel to Bassett to play when there is only one team from that area left. I hope not.

I don't think anyone is more than 60 miles from Bassett. Bassett makes pretty reasonable geographic sense for this region because it is fairly central for the TRD schools as well as the Dogwood schools to the east. Bassett's gym can accomodate very large crowds and has more than enough parking. With all of that being said, I wouldn't be shocked if the location was changed.

As long as the team from Bassett is still in in I’d say yes, if they’re hosting. When they lose it will move to a neutral sight

Thanks for posting my tweet... ;-p

My friend from DR who was sending me updates on that game said that DR had one of, if not their best player, out due to injury. I'm sure that probably had some to do with it.

It looks like the Belcher kid for Dan River didn't play...

If Belcher didnt play that would have made a huge difference. Also I'll bet a dollar to a doughnut Martinsville will be going up the mountain Friday to play.

Belcher lit up Gretna in the first meeting at Gretna when Gretna was at full strength. He was a load. Congrats to Glenvar however. By the way didn't Gretna lose to Floyd?

Radford is 90 min, Glenvar 80 min and Floyd 60 min. Seems odd to make three teams go that far versus one. Why do they not play at higher seed gym like ALL the other brackets?

I think these games should be at a neutral site. There's nothing wrong with 3 teams traveling to Bassett.

Region D is at a neutral site after the first round, they'll be playing at UVA-Wise.

Belcher got hurt at Nelson County and missed the last 3 regular season games. Was hoping that Belcher would play, he originally dressed out but I don't think he was cleared. You could tell that Dan River hadn't played a game in two weeks - last game was February 11 before last night.
