BBB: Gate City 27, Graham 20 with 5:14 left in the third.

The G-Men take a full timeout after Ervin gets a break away layup to put the Devils up seven.

BBB: Gate City 36, Graham 28 with 2:40 left in the third.

Dean has 17 now for GC and is heating up from beyond the arc

BBB: Gate City 43, Graham 33 at the end of the third quarter.

Jon Compton 3 Zac Ervin 15 Bradley Dean 17 Jonathan Sallee 3 Jacob Hicks 2 Drew Vermillion 3

Devils with a big period and they are eight minutes away from a regional title.

Both teams finally starting to make a few shots. Both just not playing the way they are capable of playing ....plain and simple. I can speak moreso for GC because I've watched them all year. I've heard several Gmen fans claim that they have been too inconsistent all year....and GC has been bit with the same bug as of lately.

BBB: Gate City 57, Graham 38 with 3:58 left to play.

Devils in control right now.

Dean has 19 and Ervin has 25

Zac is definitely almost back!

Hes starting to realize he can take a lick and fall and get back up without being reinjured. Building his confidence for sure. If his shots will start to fall like they were at the beginning of the year along with the way Bradley has been playing they can make some noise. They have just been severely inconsistent as of lately and are a shell of what they were.

Gate City is the Region 2D boys basketball champion and the Devils are one step closer to Richmond.

Zac Ervin finishes with 27 points while Brad Dean finishes with 21.

Jon Compton 3 Zac Ervin 27 Bradley Dean 23 Jonathan Sallee 5 Jacob Hicks 2 Drew Vermillion 6 David George 2 Andrew Hensley 2

Graham’s Cam Allen finishes with 18.

It did. Still not impressed with the way GC played at all...starting games extremely slow has been a theme for them the 2nd half of the season and will get them destroyed if they dont pick it up. Still yet, they won and advanced. Proud of the Devils and congrats to Gmen on advancing onward to state.

Looks like GC is back to the 2-headed monster (Dean/Zac) - I really think they are going to need that 3rd person (Compton?) to step up scoring-wise if they want to win it all again

Youre certainly spot on. Or instead of a 3rd person they need Compton, Sallee, and maybe Vermillion to just contribute a little more as a whole. They lost a key defender for the season a week ago. He got in some trouble and wont be playing the from here on out. He was the best defender GC had and is a ball of energy on the court and brings a much needed spark. So that certainly stings a bit not having him.

I wasn't aware of that - that's too bad.

They need a 3rd scorer to hit 15 pts consistently....or need 20 pts combined between scorer 3 thru 5. I'd think moreso the group effort since I dont see anyone scoring 15 consistently.

Graham had too many lazy passes and missed too many shots. GC got hot for a stretch at the end of the third and start of the fourth. Not much you can do when the threes are falling and you cant convert a layup. Good luck to both moving on.
