So is Brentsville anywhere near as good as their rating? Their one of the top rated 3A teams, but I'm not hearing much. Putting up a lot of points. Are the doing it with the run or pass?

Well, they are 6-0 against teams with a combined record of 11-28. You will remember they started out last year going 5-0, and then lost their next three. However, they did win a playoff game.

I've got a friend that is a retired dairy farmer from Nokesville. And he played football there. So, I kind of root for them just because of that.

Coach has the kids believing they can win, that's half the battle, that's how Warren County got started with Tony Tallent a few years back.

They are better than last year. Sure the teams they beat have a combined record so far of 11-28, but those teams are actually doing better, except for Skyline, than last year.

I'm not sure how accurate of a picture you can get of a team by looking at their opponents records. Phoebus' opponents, also 6-0 right now, have a combined record of 12-29. No, I'm not saying that Brentsville is as good as Phoebus, just that their opponents have similar records.

Brentsville has more of a passing game than they have in the past. They have around 600 yards in passing and 8 passing TD's, not a lot by most teams standards. However, its enough to where you can't put 8-10 in the box to stop their run game like you could the past few years. According to one article the coaches have let the QB read the defense and pick the open receiver. They imply that last year the QB was told who to throw to, did not matter if they were open or not.

What is the size of their lines? Will their D-line be able to deal with the EV O-line?

To me their lines are small. However size is not everything, Manassas Park was bigger than Brentsville's lines. But EV's line is better than Manassas Park's.

My personal opinion, as long as they don't lose any players:

Brentsville should do better against EV than last year, but still lose.
They should give Liberty (Bealton) a run for their money, slight chance they could win.
They should beat Kettle Run and Culpeper County.

Sounds about right....maybe better than a slight chance to be Liberty

Brentsville is much better this year. I think the big difference is their defense. Better defense than Millbrook. Similar to John Champe. I still picked Eastern View in the 4A pick-em, but I thought long and hard about the decision. They should beat Liberty though.

I would say they better have a lot of defensive speed on the edges.....I can see the EV RB's getting through the first line of defense regularly...and the RB's have a lot of speed/quickness.

Well, Brentsville hung with them for awhile. I did not like what Brentsville's game plan seemed to be. They have not really passed deep a whole lot and tonight they tried way too often. Their receivers could not get behind the defense and even if they could the QB can't throw the ball 50+ yards. Their short passes worked, but it was too little, too late. Hopefully the coaches have learned that and will stick with mostly short passes with a couple deep every now and then.

EV offensive line was just way too big and wore Brentsville's defense down.

Brentsville looks good they looked very balanced on offense. I have not disrespected or put brentsville down this year. They are much improved over last year and I look for them to go 9-1 in the regular season. I think they can beat a team like James Monroe this year. Brentsville isn't a state title contender but very much a very good opponent for anyone come playoff time and I wouldn't be surprised seeing them beat a good perennial team come playoffs.
