I talked to assistant coaches with both teams for a few minutes and asked them their thoughts as we start the season. Both said they are fairly young, but the seniors they have are looking really good. I asked if there is anyone who stands out as leaders this early. The one answer I expected, the other was pretty unique.

Brookville- QB Tanner Bernard is everything you want out of a student athlete. In the classroom and on the field the team goes were he takes them. Expect another sensational season from this young man who can lead the team down the field in a heartbeat

Rustburg-OL/DL Logan Reusser The team funnels everything through him. He is like a coach on the field, and has stood out as the one that the players are turning to. He will be leaned on to help guide a very young group. Normally, skill players are the leaders. The heart and soul of this team will be defined by one of the big fellas.

One of the best nicknames I ever heard for a lineman was this guy they called "Syrup". I thought it was because he was a big dude and ate a lot. They said they called him that because all he served was pancakes. Makes me laugh every time.

The Rustburg kid is nice. Bout time someone gives love to the linemen.
