Bucktown

Supposed to introduce new coach today from what I heard but not sure. Everything is speculation.

A couple coaches will stay the D coach us staying (smart move) but the O coach resigned ( smart move).

I can't believe Chatham hired him. Petersburg ran a 3wr spread. I watch some film they ran some pretty good plays but didn't have enough play makers.

Wallace came from GW Danville before coaching P-Town. He uses his best athletes at QB and his offense is predicated around his best player/s. He did really well at Petersburg and with the athletes Buckingham usually have, I don't think there will be a dropoff in wins/losses.

I think he will make us more dangerous because over the past 6-7 seasons we've had at least 5 serious playmakers on each team but only 2 or 3 would touch the ball. Look at last year we had more than just Ragland and Gough but they were the only 2 who touched the ball. We have some young fast players he can dabble with.

Why do you say you can't believe Chatham hired him? Chatham seems to be trying to revamp their athletic program with younger coaches. Their basketball coach is 25, football coach is young and I think their softball coach is 26/27..

I say that because he has no clue. He was the defensive coach on the JV and all he did was yelled for no reason. Like him as a person but wouldn't let him coach my kickball team. Wish him luck but he made no impact on our JV team. People may say I'm bashing him but you'll see come August what they hired.

BCKnights, looking forward to seeing your upgrade as you were clearly down on Gill and his staff the past few years per these message boards. Gill made you guys relevant and its been interesting seeing you put them down week end week out. A coach that was 14-31 should be a big improvement from what you guys "pushed out". Looking forward to seeing the "dangerous" new look Knights this fall. BCKnights, you got what you wanted buddy, Gill and crew are gone. Look forward to sitting back and watching the fireworks with these new young and fast players!

Come on man, the guy got a good opportunity, he's one of ours, lets support him and wish him nothing but the best. To bash him on a social media site like you are doing makes you look bad. I'm sure you played D-1 football and are an excellent evaluator of coaching talent, but lets see how he does with a few years there and then you can come out scream to everyone how you "knew it" etc. He's a good person, but bad coach. I hear ya man!

The coach with no clue going to Chatham coached a jv team that was undefeated...just saying. He might have a small clue or a tiny clue or maybe even a morsel of a clue. He also is very intelligent, and is working hard at Chatham to get things rolling. I wish this guy well, he is going to do fine.

1st off I will say I loved coach Gill to the fullest never wanted to see him leave. The only coach I didn't like was the O coach many wanted him gone for years now even players and other coaches but I wouldn't say anything on here I haven't said to either of them face. We know each other on personal levels other than just football. As far as the undefeated JV we were just better than others athletically and I give the credit to the head JV coach. I haven't missed a JV or varsity game in 7 and I know all these kids that play related to most. I said I wish the new coach the best but when your players turn their back on you even when they up big says a lot and I saw it damn near every game. Am I the only person who voices their opinion on here about coaches? No I am not but I bet my head 90% of the county would back up what I'm saying. For the record when Gill retired I went to his house and hugged him and told him how much I loved him and cried in his shoulders. Best coach I ever had in my life and all the assistants he had is still there except the O coach and he is gone for a reason. Again I wish Coach Allen the best and glad he has the opportunity but again I haven't said anything on here I haven't said to any of them face.

And nobody pushed Gill out he has cancer and is battling that for the last 3 years. His goal is to be back in a year and would be welcomed with open arms.

BCKnights, out of curiosity, which team did the players turn their backs on the coach...varsity or JV. On the varsity level I did not see that at all. When you mentioned in an earlier post that the team should be more dangerous now....assuming that's a knock at the "former" varsity staff, what would you done different? From the outside looking in they had a heckuva run the last 5-8 years. One that could possibly never be match again for a few years to come. Not attacking you buddy but just trying to understand. As u said you are related to alot of those young athletes so you have inside sources. I just think going forward you will probably appreciate more of what you "had" the past decade. Just sayin.....

When I said players turned their back on the coach it was the JV coach that left for Chatham. I saw it many of times I've even called players to the side and told them it doesn't look good and whether they respect him as a coach or not he's still a grown man. As far as me saying the team should be more dangerous is because I think he will use more than just 2 people on offense. Under the last O coach only 2 people touched the ball the entire game go back and look at our teams the last few years. It worked against weaker teams but against better s it cost us every time. Every year we would have at least 4 guys that could hurt you at anytime but only 2 would touch the ball against weaker teams they all touched the ball but against top teams it was the same predictable 2 man game. Look at the Richland's game last year and I said before the game that our O coach would blow it and he did. For instance Ragland and Gough moved the ball in the 1st half but in the 2nd half they loaded the box to stop those 2. We had 240 lb Shawn Ayres at H back never touched the ball, we had 260 lb Mike Mabrey at TE never touched the ball, we had 212 lb Raheem Holman who were just as fast if not faster than Ragland and only touched the ball when Ragland cramped up. How can you have those kind of weapons and only use 2 every game every year. We will be very young this year so a struggle wouldn't be surprise but most of this group have 3 years left. We will have a young Qb and young skill players on offense but we will have a lot of speed. If the new coach use all of his weapons they could be dangerous as time goes by. And trust me I certainly enjoy what we've did over the last 7 seasons and hope it keeps going but it was a lot behind closed doors here that people didn't see because we were winning. I've never said anything bad about Gill or the D coach or the other assistants, I directed my comments to the O coach who many wanted gone for years now especially the "Players".

BCKnights, I hear ya loud and clear my man on the players mindset and attitude. I don't know their mindsets and I can't comment on their thought process as you can. But.....I can clearly state this and I'm just throwing the "trust me" card that the coaching change was not a mutual one. From an administrative stand point this was a county and school decision NOT a personal coaching decision that it was time to hang it up. Yes, coach has had some health issues for the past 2-3 years but he's kept coaching. This year wasn't going to be any different. This was clearly the case of the boss and "school" knowing what's best or thinking they did. There is definitely some hard feelings on this one. To "push out" a guy who made this program relevant the past 2 decades and bring in a (14-30) guy stings with what was offered to him. I will say this though. Gill is looking at "options" now. One is a school south of Bucktown that he turned down a few years ago to stay with the kids he cared about regardless of what W's and L's would have been. A school that is rich with football tradition. Starts with a "G" and who's mascot is a bird. There's an old saying, just because there is snow on the roof doesn't mean there isn't fire in the chimney. Just like you BCKnights I call them like I see them. When the Football players are going to available for basketball practice the first day because they will not be in the playoffs I hope they remember what they had and what was "pushed out" and yes BCKnights I said pushed out. The JRD is always one of the toughest leagues in the state. Will be fun to watch this fall. Just really unfortunate that Buckingam played the hand it did. Certain guys deserved much better!
Man will you please knock that nonsense off. Coach Gill's family talked him into retiring this year he is only about 120lbs and is really declining with his battle of cancer. He has no choice but to fight for his life at this point. You really pissing me off now logics. This entire county is heartbroken over him retiring and we pray for him everyday. You know nothing about our administration, maybe that's how it is where you're from. Coach physically can't continue, he dying dumb ass. I saw him the other day at food lion and we were talking about his car he told me I gave the automatic to my wife because she can't drive a five speed and say he don't need because he'll be dead soon jokingly. People get their ass whooped here for disrespecting Coach Gill. He not only changed the football team he changed the culture of this county and I'm sad my son will never play for him. If they wanted to "push" him out they could've did it 3 years ago when he was 1st diagnosed. Man your last post comical thanks for laugh I'm done. Go Knights!!!

You'd have to look at other conversations I have had with him today about his open arms acceptance of the new head coach that is proven up top. Trust and believe it has nothing to do with a joke about the passing of Coach Gill.

You got issues man, I know 95% of the guys from appo on here. Who are you? Can you read that quote again that you cited for BCknights? Am I missing something? I dont see no where on there his affirmation form Wallace....So where are you getting off?

I also explained EXACTLY what I meant but you have your own judgement. If it was you taking over I would've given you benefit doubt too. I'm flattered that something I said over a year ago has affected your life this past week. Meanwhile in America Appomattox is seeking a 3rd straight state title but one of their beloved fans are stuck in Buckingham lol! Get a life dude!

Well thank u for clarifying and yes bc did say it in HOPES of new coach. This is probably the only quote u will find from him though...affirming the new coach coming being a benefit to buckingham. Quickly after this BC knew that there was trouble lurking in buckingham.

If u played with Wilkerson. We have to be around same age.
