Buffalo Gap girls basketball advances to state semifinals with Friday night win

Buffalo Gap's girls team is the last Shenandoah District basketball team standing after a big eight-point win Friday night.
The Bison beat West Point 34-26 in the Class 1 state quarterfinals, advancing to the state semifinals next week. That after the
Buffalo Gap boys and
Fort Defiance girls both lost in the state quarterfinals Friday night, ending their seasons.
Hannah Coffman led the Bison girls Friday with nine points in the win. Bailey Talley added seven, while Leah Sherrill finished with six points for Gap. Ava Cline had five, Paige Fix finished with four and Avery Bradley had three to round out the scoring for the Bison.
Gap will play in the state semifinals now. According to the GapSportsCorner Twitter account, the Bison will play Rappahannock County at Strasburg High School Monday. The two teams met in the Region 1B championship a week ago with Rappahannock County winning 38-30.
With the win Friday, Gap improved to 15-11 on the season, including six wins its its last nine games.
Gap last played in the state semifinals in 2018. That season Gap won in the semifinals on a 3-pointer in the final 10 seconds before losing in the state championship.
