I remember going to Franklin to watch a playoff game and was surprised at the lack of class and sportsmanship by the players/coaching staff.... this was several years ago maybe the culture has changed..... shrugs

Isn't Franklin the team where the HC is the one who leads the team through the cheerleader banner before the game and is the first to break it? I cannot recall if it was Franklin or another team, but I remember seeing a picture of a coach from that area doing that. I had never seen that before.

I thought their coach was the one who stares down the opposing teams sideline when they come out. I think he did that to Riverheads back in 2010.

Yep that's the one. Franklin has been known for having their more rowdy fans on the visitor's side of their stadium yaking all game long. At least that's the way it was when they were winning consistently.

The playoff game I saw... was before even the refs came in in pregame.

Franklin guys were doing their stretches scattered around the field with several coaches then the opponent came out and has to enter the field and pass on the sideline to get to their end.
ALL of the franklin players got up and went to the numbers and started jawing, pointing etc....
Shocked heads from the other team didn't cause a huge melee.

Thing is, all it took was one punch in the gut from Riverheads and they curled up in the fetal position.

Sounds like a Franklin-Fort Chiswell championship might be quite entertaining, if you like that sort of nonsense. I'd call in extra security for that game. Me, I'd rather watch two well coached, talented, and determined teams play football. Please, let's not let VHSL turn into the weekly idiocy that's happening on Friday nights in Texas.

Now that would be a show! great observation obguther! man, that would indeed be a sight to see, from a safe distance, of course ha.

I find that very childish and classless. If that's your idea of "fun", as grown adults to harass high school players from the stands, then that's sad. Maybe if you guys learn some discipline, respect and class, you'll become a dynasty and win more championships, because the talent is there. Let the PLAYERS do the talking with their skills and play on the field, or you will just continue to have more Riverheads 35-8 games. Of course players will jaw at each other during games, but when coaches and grown adults in the stands do it (and make it a point to sit on the visitors side and do it, seriously?) it's pathetic.

You guys better be glad you're a tiny 1A school, because that stuff won't fly against bigger, tougher teams with more fans.

Lol .. Its just high school football man.. Every team know what to expect when they come to the Armory..we basically argue back and forth with fans about all football.college and pros..win or lose thats what we do.we could careless about those bigger schools and more fans.my brother transferred to Norfolk Collegiate from Franklin to play basketball and thats another small private school with very rowdy student base.and they play tougher and bigger schools..its all the same man.it just comes with sports.

Even the Franklin fans did not like the action of their players and coaches after the RHS game . They let that be known at the end of the game . Its all on the coach . He can make young men out of his players or classless thugs . The general public can see the way these kids act on and off the field . The coach better get a grip on them or maybe he is one of them ? I am sure RHS would love to meet up with Franklin again . My money is on the Red Team. Go Big Red !!!!!

Classless thugs ?? Wow ..and this classless coach counseled these classless players when they lost a teammate due to car accident thus summer. I see why I stop posting up here..Cant wait til the Broncos play them Sussex Tigers..good ole football that i been missing..trash talking all game... Goodluck to you guys schools tonite .. Go Broncos Go NoCo !!

Wow!!! How did a post asking how Franklin and Sussex are doing this year, turn into a bunch of negative stuff from the past? Smh.
Yeah im not sure.. I just simply let you know that we up here.. Just seeing how the season gonna play out in the old tri-rivers cuz its early .. and people bring up our classless fans and coaches.. and a game with riverheads that happen 6 years ago.. smh

Personally I would like to hear more about the tri-rivers' teams. There have always had good football down there, plus now they added some bigger schools. One of the tougher old districts for 1A schools. If Franklin or Sussex Central got back to how they used to be, they could be just like Essex is now in 1A. Knock the approach, but it is a hostel, high energy environment when playing against those schools.

What do you know about this Friday night in the old tri-rivers?
