Cave Spring fell to Patrick Henry Roanoke last night to drop to 13-1 on the year. I believe that leaves Central Woodstock as the last remaining unbeaten in Class 3. That being said, and not to offend any Falcons fans, but I would like to see Central play one or two good teams before I start believing in them as a contender. Cave Spring is 13-1 and has wins over Salem (2x) Northside, Blacksburg, Christiansburg, Floyd County (2x) and Lord Botetourt. Central's best win is uh...erm....Skyline? Ouch. Furthermore for the Falcons 3B is wide open this year. Goochland is probably their biggest comp and they were down 18 to Fluvanna before coming back and winning. So I think the Falcons could possibly win Region 3B and go to the state quarterfinals without playing an elite team the entire year up to that point. Not saying they aren't good, but it will be difficult to jump up about two levels in quality of opponent when they reach the state quarterfinals and have to play someone like Lafayette or Lakeland.
