CB 22- Essex 8. 4 min 1st half

CB gets robbed on a fumble about 10 yds from me. Essex punches it in. Getting good. 22-18

Essex was also robbed on an int around CB’s 30. Essex player went up and got the int but was called for pass interference. Essex D kept CB from scoring. Essex’s special teams allowed the 2 punt returns and Essex WR short armed a pass that went off his finger tips and into the hands of the defender that was coming up to make the tackle. He then ran it in about 30-35 yards for the pick 6. Essex came out flat in the 1st half. When the D started holding CB to punts, that’s when the O came to life. Final 90 or so seconds Essex was deep inside CB red zone but called off the dogs and killed the clock.

CB was worn out in the second half. Essex numbers helped as game went on. Safety was momentum changer. I was much more impressed with #4 from Essex as a runner than #24.

#24 K.J. Dameron didn’t have a good night. He sat out most of or all of the 1st Q due to missing a day of practice I was told. There are games that he runs with anger and is very productive, but other games he does not. #4 Tim Johnson is the slasher type runner while K.J. is the power back. O line play has a lot to do with KJ’s performance. Last night Essex’s O line didn’t perform well in the running game. I think Essex passed more in this game than any other game this year.

Did the Johnson Kid #4 miss the game at Riverheads last year ?

Yes he did. He was running in for a TD and a William Campbell defender made a shoe string tackle as Johnson was going in the end zone and he landed on his shoulder and broke his collarbone the week before Essex came to Riverheads.

#4 has a lot of speed and juke about him ! Different team when he is on the field ! Maybe the top player for the Trojans !

Essex was getting CRUSHED? I guess that was a jab at UVACAV1 for his comment with CB @WP last week. The Pick 6 and two punt returns in the first half may have seemed that way. Overall stats... Essex Defense held CB to less than 100 yards of offense, a safety and a second half shutout. #24 and #22 did not play the first Qtr as some were saying on Facebook. I wonder if either team will place the other as their homecoming game next year?

That would be a yes lol. Just having fun. And yes Essex turned the game and momentum around on the blocked punt. Their defense brought it in the 2nd half. Pinned their ears back with no threat of a passing game from CB. CB is gonna be pretty damn good next year too

The homecoming thing has been done. Last year CB played Essex at Essex’s homecoming and won 23-15. This year I guess you can say Essex got some payback by beating them at their homecoming.

I know, with both spoiling each others... wonder if they have learned their lesson. But honestly, with the NND becoming stronger each year, hard to schedule someone without out it being a change for an upset
