I want to know what is going on with this team. Nobody really talking them up all season. Reminds me the way the media slept on Appo in 2015 all the way until we beat Richlands. What is the changes? Coaches? New O? What is the biggest reason this team is successful this season? I like what they got to offer.

Here is my comment on another thread:
Just now watched a lot of video on Central. I AM IMPRESSED!!! Dan River needs to take notes on how to run the I Form (if that is what Im seeing) correctly. WOW?! THEY ARE A THREAT!!!!! Two fast RBs and a QB that can throw. If Appo gets that far....they need to be doing homework extensively to beat this team. They got the goods! Please watch all these vids on this link.
@oldfool @HolyFrog @DemRaiders @AppoCrazy @Kimosabe5 @mojo on tapp @OldSchoolRaider @POUCHKICK (appo fan dont deny it. I know who you are)

They smacked Clark in the mouth last year and I tried to tell people. They were basically sophomores then.

Going through one of those "cycles" that happens from time to time. Everyone knew they would be on a couple year run when this group was 9th graders. Everyone in the BRD saw this coming. If they don't win it this year, they have to be the odds on favorite next year. They start 20 juniors if I'm not mistaken.

You at the game last year? When Clarke QB got hurt early in first half? 3 turnovers inside Clarke 20 yard line? Clarke outgained Central but lost in OT?
The hatred towards Clarke is petty and childish at this point.

Hats off to Central last year and this year for beating Clarke and if things go the way of the BRD they will play next week. Central should be and is the favorite for obvious reasons. They will be better next year.
But to say they smacked Clarke in the face last year is just absurd.

Good luck to Millbrook as they get round 2 with Sherando

Neutral observer question here.....If Central does win the region and gets to Salem, will we see a repeat of the last two years.........Appomattox running all over them like they did Clarke and Richlands? I guess what I am really asking is whether Appo is as good this year as they were the last two? Both those games were supposed to be close but Appo routed both of them pretty handily.

Ignore him. He's not worth it. I wouldn't call a 1 point loss last year a smack in the mouth. I would call a 40-0 loss an a$$ kicking though. Why someone who's team is ranked 1st in 4A is running his mouth about 2A football says a lot about that person. That being said, Millbrook will need all the luck in the world this Friday night.

It seems the general consensus is APPO is still extremely good, but not the same team they have had the last 2 years, especially defensively. Also combine that with the path Appo will have to get to Salem this year is the toughest they’ve had in the last 3 years in my opinion. They have to get by Giles, who is never an easy team to play, then most likely go to Glenvar, and then they will most likely either be playing Graham or Union in Big Stone in the semis, and I can say with certainty that Appo players haven’t been in an environment quite like Bullitt Park in the recent runs they’ve been had. That place and fan base can rattle the most mentally sound of teams. I think appo can definitely win it all again, but they are gonna have to play their best and earn it every step of the way.

I think this Appo team will score on anyone but the issue is keeping them from scoring. Yes, our D is not what it has been in previous years, but it still solid and I have seen progress. This year is going to be a hard road to win it all. Not taking nothing away from past 2 teams...they just made it look THAT EASY and most of that D has graduated. Plus we had two quality Seniors (starters last year) not playing this year due to some 'troubles.'

2016 you made teams look DUMB lol, not even playing same sport. Union had a decent team but Appo just blew doors off after first quarter. But 2015, didn't Richlands have Appo down big late and had some mistakes that allowed Appo to roar back and win?

Yes they did. They had us by 14 with 8.32left on the clock. Appo rallied with the fans all holding up one finger and chanting PO1 . We then tied the score and held Richlands scoreless in ot. Trey walker ran 8t in on our possession for the winning touchdown.

I guess you missed my post on Richlands being better in 2015 a few post back. I TOLD YALL....I WILL NEVER COMPARE the 2015 or 2016 team PUBLICLY! I will do sofa talk, bar talk, or football talk against a fence with anyone on the disadvantages of both teams. If there was not the young men being strong leaders in 2015, I dont think we would have saw the superior type of team we saw in 2016.

I didn't ask you to compare the teams you big drama queen, I just pointed out the 2015 team had a much harder time than 2016.

I wouldnt say all that. "drama queen"...never been called that before but anyways... both struggled in certain games....Like I said, I didnt want to compare but you said 2016 team made teams look "DUMB" well they struggled with Heritage, Rustburg and Dan River. So I guess that is making teams look DUMB in your opinion. Both years had struggling games in first half of season until they hit their stride.

Thats because Richlands wad more stacked, they didnt make mistakes in the end, Raiders made every play the need to execute and pmayed hard to come back and gwt the win. No drama queens. Just real talk.
If one play went wtong for Appo in the end Richlands wpuld have won. Appo kept Faith and kept their heads up and played perfect when it counted.

I was referring to the playoffs. 2016 Appo had zero close games against tough opponents but 2015 did. Frog mentions a loaded Richlands team, I don't think that's the case as much, hell Union beat Richlands in 2015. From watching the teams play, it seemed 2016 was just clicking on all cylinders when it mattered and crushed teams.

And yes you were overreacting to some extent, I didn't ask you to pick your favorite child and you went big on throwing out the cliches and stuff lol.

That's not true, Richlands did make mistakes in the end. Wasn't the INT the key play in the 4th?
I'm being pedantic you dont have to answer.

NO! That was one of them. Dont forget the butt fumble on the 2 when RB ran into OL after driving down field, then dont forget our QB throwing an INT on the 3 after driving down field. After that....yall kept it close. Yall scored off one hit wonder plays. we scored off grit and determination. AND DONT GIVE ME THAT....2015 wasnt better. All the Richlands fans were saying on her is the OL is bad this year and we have no running game. SO STOP IT!!! I been here for quite some time to know what was said about both teams. I think it was a unanimous from Richlands fans that 2015 was that good. That team beat a SOLID Buckingham that only loss to us!!!! That Buckingham team would have beat brakes off 2016 Richlands. Union would have beat Clarke if they had good coaching to know how to beat the single wing (it shocked em and they did not play one all year).

Compare the scores of Appomattox playoffs wins the last two years to whats happening now. Blowouts in the the 1st two rounds against two quality lower seeds in Martinsville and Giles, both of those teams were battle tested playing decent schedules and got manhandled. All 3 Appomattox teams are great in their own way and people think they are primed to get beat. I don't see it happening. The teams at the top brought back key players just like Appomattox did this year and they still making it look easy. I like Appomattox vs Goochland rematch for it all this year with Appomattox 3 peat but better game.

Getting back to the original thread title - Central (seems it got hijacked by other topics of discussion)

Coming from a Lee fan - I just wanted to say congrats on a great season!

Man, the Lee-Luray game is gonna be a helluva game!!

I remember making a comment after the first time the two teams played - that I'm sure Lee would love to get another shot at Luray - and lo and behold here we are.

Lee fell way behind in the first game and had a lot of turnovers - it really was their first bad game of the season - but knew going in that Luray had a really good team, especially at QB - and they stuck it to Lee.

I truly believe it will be a different result this time - Lee will know what to expect, and I really feel that playing at home will really help as well.

But if Luray does win the game, then hats off to them as well.

They will have earned that right to advance.

I would've loved to have seen Luray play Riverheads at full strength, since the Gladiators gave them their only loss of the season (minus Luray QB).

Otherwise, they would be undefeated at this point.

#3, #5, and #7 for Luray were just fast and strong! Ran over, through, and around Clarke all Friday night.

And they would have been 1 seed. I didn't see them play the 1st time, but the games against Draft, I thought Luray was the better team
