What a great Game! Both teams played their hearts out, and congrats to GW on their win. Both teams were impressive. Yes, there were some mistakes by both teams, but let's take nothing away from either school.....That was a darn Classic!
I have to tip my hat to GW. You guys never quit and showed a lot of poise. I thought Chilhowie did the same. Those young guys played their hearts out, and also showed a lot of poise. Something tells me there is going to be a rematch if everything falls into place.
I sincerely hope that any player that GW got injured is OK. Chilhowie played with a Soph QB. It was his first Varsity start. Talk about poise, the guy had ice water in his veins. Our starting QB got injured in the Twin Springs game, so the young kid stepped in and did a tremendous job.
I thought both teams left nothing on the field. Yes, CHS missed several scoring opportunities in the 4th qrt that hurt them, along with 175 yds in penalties. But that was their fault, and they will learn from that. CHS has a young squad. Just about everyone that played last night will return next year. The few seniors that played did a good job.
Chilhowie is going to have to learn how to close a big game. There were some mistakes made by the team that could have changed the outcome of the game. But, take nothing away from GW. They showed the resilience to comeback and hold on for the win.
Again, good win for GW, and good game for Chilhowie. One thing that I hope CHS takes away from this game. Penalties and mistakes will hurt any team, and when playing a very good team like GW, those penalties and mistakes will comeback to hurt, and hurt, and hurt. One more thing, GW'S QB is a special player. Congrats to the young man on his game and breaking the all time GW passing record.
For Blaster, I was there last night. Sorry you did not come over to say Hello.
