Christiansburg

Will the Blue Demons get back to their winning ways in 2019? Opinions? @mike salem @Shabutie @1bburgfan
I know Christiansburg won 2 games last year against Floyd and Cave Spring. They went winless in 2017. The easy answer would be to say no, they won't be returning to their winning ways. They haven't looked good against good teams either. In all honesty I don't know enough about them to say, but nothing I've seen has shown promise towards a winning record.

They should be improved to some degree. They have had some solid middle school groups moving up the last few years and done decent talent returning. They might be able to beat out Cave and HV but I can’t see them challenging the top teams this year.

If I may chime in, looking at Christiansburg’s schedule, it doesn’t seem likely that the Blue Demons will post their first winning record since 2013 this season. However, the possibility is there. From what I know or remember about the teams today, I’d say there are two likely wins - Floyd Co. and Patrick Co., both Class 2 - and four likely losses to Salem, Pulaski Co., PH, and Blacksburg.

That leaves four games that seem like toss-ups, those being the contests with Giles and Hidden Valley at home, and at Rockbridge Co. and Cave Spring. It might be a stretch to call the Giles and RC games toss-ups - I know Giles was way down last year, and still beat C’burg convincingly - but I’m giving the Blue Demons the benefit of the doubt in saying that they could conceivably win either of those.

Obviously, if C’burg wins the two games they should and then sweeps those four games I’m calling 50/50, that would put them at 6-4. Ultimately, I think they’ll at best finish 4-6, maybe more likely 3-7. Which would still be incremental improvement.

6-4 or 5-5, they have some skill players and the last couple of years the youth program has been good . Like Blacksburg , it's all on how the line play develops.
