Clarke at George Mason

Va preps twitter account has 10 people predicting Clarke and 7 for Mason. Where are all the Mason fans on here and how and the world did they give up almost forty points in their last game to a winless team

Clarke wins by at least 21. Clarke would have to turn the ball over a lot for Mason to win. Clarke's offense and defense will be the best ones seen by Mason this year.

As long as Clarke don't let Masons star back Nobel go off they win easily. From what I saw out of Clarke up front on both sides they should not have another close game til second round of playoffs if they play to their potential

BigSteve08, if you are affiliated with Mason, any info on whether Noble is being looked at for college football?

Noble got loose for two TD's, a great 6 yard run in which he reversed field and beat the Clarke defense to the corner and then a 61 yard run in which he juked half the Clarke defense out of their cleats, and he had a 28 yard run on Mason's first series. Other than those three carries, and a decent kick return, the Clarke defense held Noble in check. The final score 42-14 would have had a larger spread if not for numerous drive killing penalties by the Clarke offense in the 3rd quarter.

Penalties...If they don't cut those out soon...GGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

I don't think too many people respect Clarke until they beat someone outside of the bull run and have a little playoff success

Oh, they have some playoff success, and they have beaten some formidable opponents. I think there are some who want to get inside on the courts when it gets a little cold out. They have to finish what they start, and they have consistently not done so the last several years.

Goat, will you be at JMU this weekend? I'm an '89 alum and I'm seriously debating it! ESPN Baby!!!!

ClarkeFan83 I am sure you remember Kloosterman that played for strasburg. He is a starting tight end for jmu

Calrkefan83...not trying to start an argument but what wins do you consider to be Clarke's "marquee" playoff wins? I can't recall any I would put in that category but I will admit that I may have missed it (them). CC has never made the final 4 have they?

Kloosterman was also a good baseball player wasn't he?

I wouldn't say any of them were that I can remember. Wouldn't take it as an argument starter anyway, I got thick skin. :) The games they did win, they should have won. Some that they lost, they probably should have won. I know that the deeper they've gone in the playoffs, the less they seem to be thinking about taking it further (many also played on the basketball team and were starters there too, which leads me to suspect they were getting tired of the cold weather...just thinking out loud)

There are very few "true" football players on Clarke, ones who love wearing the pads and hitting in cold weather. The team might have a deeper desire to play past end of November if there was no basketball awaiting most of the starters, many of whom are better at basketball than football.

I think you guys are disrespecting the Clarke kids so much! Were you in the locker room to see the tears after the playoff losses? They have had a much better chance to win a state championship in football the past five or six years than they did in basketball.
Nobody is going to respect Clarke until they win or play for a state championship and everybody associated with the program understands that.

No disrespect intended or implied in pointing out that the mental aspect of playing in late November has not been a strong point for Clarke football over the years. But that comes with the experience of playing those type games, so perhaps this year's team will have that "drive" to push through to December. And yeah, my son has been a starter for Clarke the past several years, so I'm aware of how they took those losses. Tears are common after tough losses, how you feel two days after the loss is the determining factor. Time for the Clarke players and program to figure out just how badly they want that success.

I was a bit shocked to learn the other night that former Clarke standout Chandler Rhoades is now coaching football and basketball in Madison!

But to the point about basketball...Clarke has not had a contender on the hardwood since the Shiley brothers have they? George Mason/Monroe have been the top dog for the last few years and the several years before that it was Madison.

Hmmm, so perhaps Madison will be running the single wing in a few years!! Stranger things have happened.

It's not about disrespect, it's an objective opinion. In past years, the fire in the belly at playoff time really hasn't been there. I love watching these guys play football. I wish they would get further in the post-season play with the fire they have during the regular season.

Not much a team can do about the strength of schedule issue, a team plays its district opponents which go a long way toward that SOS number. Teams go up and down in the district yearly, it is what it is. Clarke was dropped by two 1A schools from their non-district schedule (Berkeley Springs, WV and Stonewall Jackson) and so added two 4A teams (Millbrook and Handley). Clarke lost by 6 points to Millbrook, which is currently #9 in 4A West, and soundly beat Handley, which is winless. Not much Clarke can do about Handley being winless.

Clarke has the talent and ability to play into December if it plays to its full potential, and as with many other teams, catches a few breaks, but regardless, Clarke is capable of ruining another teams post season dreams if they take Clarke lightly in later rounds.

Chandler Rhoads didn't play in the single wing......................a broken leg to Zach Shiley the following year turned Clarke into the single wing.

If "ruining" another teams post season dreams is your expectation, there is little wonder that Clarke struggles beyond the regular season. For the record, I hope CC (and all BRD teams) do well in the playoffs; the Bull Run has been down for too long.

And by the way, I was informed by a MC supporter that Rhoades is an assistant coach for football and basketball, not the head coach. Sorry for any confusion.

Clark played Eastern View our first year in existence. Maybe they should call Mr. Settle and try to set up a home-home series. Wouldn't be bad for either team. EV would get decent rider points and Clark would play a very good program every year which may help them in the post season.

White & Blue, all Bull Run teams would do each other a big favor with power points, seedings, etc..., if district teams would start winning their non-district games, or at least some of those games.
