The out come came as expected by me , definitely a well deserved win for Clarke, clearly the better team. I have just a few questions. how can a visiting team with at least one-third of the fans as Clarke did at this game out cheer and make more noise than Clarke did. You would have thought the home field team was losing with the noise on the home field side. it was pathetic . Also, the visiting brings there band ( which is fine) but where was Clarkes band, they were the first band in the Xmas parade today, they could have come on up and supported the home field team, plenty of time to get there. Pinion was is allowed by Clarke to blow up here inflatable Bear to make a grand entrance onto the field at the beginning of the game? Another site that looked like Clarke wasn't at home to me. A first to me and I have never seen, Union brought there own Ambulance and peremedics all the way up to Berryville? Did they not think there would be any peremedics at the game? Just wondering. like I said , Clarke had no trouble with Union, good luck next week at Salem. Thanks for all your thoughts on these things, just curious.

Union travels well, they have a great fan base, and it showed. I was kind of jealous about the inflatable, no problem with them bringing it as far as I'm concerned. Don't get me started about the band thing...there's an obvious issue that I wholeheartedly believe the administration should take up. There was not even a pep rally at Clarke on Friday.

The biggest football game in Clarke's history, and we were outshined by the Union fans. That's embarrassing. But hey, our football team did great today, so I don't want to take anything away from them.

Dunno about the ambulance thing, but my guess is that if there was a serious injury, the Clarke ambulances would take them to the Winchester Hospital, but otherwise they would have wanted to just transport their own back home. Just a guess though.

Thanks Clarke fan, I was impressed by Clarke domination today, seen them a lot this year. They will represent well next week, and I have friends kids on your team. I am Very proud of clarke performance today. Nd now I have a big decision to make, Lynchburg or Salem . Haha

We could see that Union passing game flash. The first drive run-fumble was a tone setter. CC was in 3rd and short all day. Union had possessed the ball for 6 plays with 7 minutes to go in the half.

Sounds like a wonderful decision to have to make if you're a football fan!

Inflatables are a big thing in SWVA. A lot of teams have them. Some will allow visiting teams to bring them and some will not. The AD or whoever makes those decisions for Clarke must have told them it was OK or they wouldn't have brought it otherwise.

As for the ambulance...1. Just another example of the WHOLE community being behind the team. 2. In the event that a player is hurt(non life threatening emergency), and cannot or should not travel back by bus or car then the ambulance is there to take them. Not sure what the bill would have been for a Berryville ambulance to transport a kid 400 miles back to BSG!

Yeah, that's what I thought regarding the ambulance. Actually didn't even notice until it was brought up here. Glad it wasn't needed!

Union was more than ready to play, they just flat out had no success in stopping Clarke's single wing offense.

It amazes me that a school and their fans talk so much trash in beating a school half their size. Guess what Millbrook your supposed to win and congrats on winning a game that must be considered your Super Bowl. The Pioneers return seven starters on both sides of the ball next year but I guarantee you they won't be playing past Thanksgiving next year.

I'll just say that I believe it was a good move for Clarke to schedule a couple bigger schools this season. It's those games that got them where they are now.

I have no idea about Millbrook having a weight lifting program, but I'm guessing the players at Sherando would think otherwise.

I have talked with a lot of people and everyone of them is surprised Clarke won. No offense to Union but they did not come out ready to play. I think they may have taken Clarke lightly. I thought this game would have been like the Appomattox-Bufallo Gap game, with Union winning big. I was shocked when I first heard the halftime score. Even more shocked at final score.

Union came out ready to play without a doubt. Pregame preparations did not have them ready for the single wing offense. Though the margin of victory was a surprise.

Whether they were ready to play or not, doesn't matter at this point. Once my team was out, I was hoping that Union would win because of the experiences we had playing them in the past and I really liked how hard nosed they seemed to be. But what happened is that they couldn't stop the run and their passing game couldn't keep up. That has to be something that you hate HR6, a running team beating a passing team. I guess Clarke should run the spread huh? It is all well and good for someone to have a type of offense they like to see, but to makes tons of posts on how much you like it every year and hoping teams that run the ball lose gets really old after awhile. You have stated in the past that everyone should run spread, spread is best thing ever, teams should throw the ball a lot, etc. One thing that makes football so great is that one persons opinion doesn't make things change, and that teams run what they think can make them the most successful. I would think that teams like Clarke, Riverheads, Giles, Jefferson Forest, Courtland, etc seem to do just fine with the offenses they run and do so very successfully. They may not win a state championship every year, but they are consistently good.

HR6, you seem like a passionate guy about things you want to be passionate about, but you need to give credit where it is due. Wanting people to lose because of what they run isn't good, and these kids work hard all year, but you have your opinions and are entitled to them. I will guarantee you that if a team like Riverheads did what you wanted and switched to spread they would not be as good. You also don't take into account that teams run what they run because that is the coaches philosophy, and they wouldn't be as good if they were to do something else. But I guess in your mind that either they should change their philosophy or bring in a coach who runs a spread? So then people would be losing jobs to benefit you, that would be terrible. I know you love your spread so much because of what Gretna did with it. Did you ever stop and think that the reason Grenta won wasn't because of the spread but because they were better than everyone else? Perfect example is Golden State, you used to hear all the time that teams that shoot so much can win championships because when you are not shooting good you lose, well Golden State did it, WHY? Because of shooting so much where anyone else had failed doing so? NO, because their talent was more equipped to do so and talent was better. How good does shooting a lot work for the Lakers? I am a Laker fan and they are terrible shooting a lot, but Golden State is undefeated this year doing it. Think that has something to do with the Jimmy's and Joe's and not the X's and O's?

Good post Gunz. I just despise "running teams", To me running ball 98% of the time is boring football. I like big play TD drives of 3 plays or less. Kick PAT, then play defense and get ball back.

Clarke is 2A, don't think they care about 4A Millbrook, but for whatever reason, 4A Millbrook, which so desperately wants to be respected on the same level as big brother Sherando, considers their win over 2A Clarke to be their signature win of the year.

Oh, it will be if Clarke manages to win State. I hope it's bragged about for a looooong time.

Clarke County:
Starting Running Back transferred from Millbrook
Starting Quarterback transferred from Sherando

Pioneer, you've been trolling Clarke for the last three weeks, since Millbrook was eliminated from the 4A playoffs, and your jealously of 2A Clarke's success has popped up in several of your postings, but your last post really just shows how deep that envy goes. Your sour grapes have finally turned to vinegar.

I wish the best for the future of Millbrook football, but here's hoping you aren't involved with that program.

Now, now...he's got a lot of time on his hands now that his team isn't playing. Let him vent.
