Trutiger said Sussex was going have a say in region b really don’t see them losing the rest of way out

Sussex should win out in my opinion. With that said I have them at 23.4. A one loss (to SD) RH would be around 26.3 so I still think the Gladiators control their own destiny in regards to home field. Two losses puts that in jeopardy depending on who it is to.

Every game has meaning from here on out for the top 2-3 teams in each region.

Riverheads will the 1A title easily.

Someone said that was a ludicrous statement. I think that it is ludicrous to not understand that.

Riverheads will defeat whoever they play in 1A because of their system, coaching preparation, work ethic, complete community buy in, their large 1A school that promotes winning in sports and academics, a culture of long time success and high expectations, no or little dissent from parents, they place each kid in his proper position where he can already succeed according to their abilities (then coach em up), long time weightlifting program, total TEAM concept, rabid fan base of support, precision play and discipline.

The play and dominance of the O and D lines of Riverheads almost guarantees them the championship.

No one else does what they do with that level of continuity of perfection and discipline, possibly Galax with their great coach is close but they may not have the athletes to do it year after year.

@uvacavs1, I think Riverheads does have a good shot but there are 5 or 6 other teams that also have what it takes to win this year. I think most everyone on here already assumes that it will be Riverheads and Galax in Salem but I will give you 6-7 teams other than them and why each have a shot.

1. GW or Narrows- IF either get by Galax they should be better than whomever comes out of region D (all due respect to PHGS and Chilhowie who are prohibited favorites to meet in the region title game). Honestly everyone has started to overlook GW and/or Narrows. Both have enough to get to Salem and compete with anyone in the state.
2. W&L-no one has played a tougher schedule so far and that includes Riverheads and Galax. They will be battle tested and ready for about anything that can be thrown at them. That schedule will pay dividends when the games count.
3. Rappahannock-this team has athletes all over the field and can make plays all night. Versatility is their biggest asset.
4. Essex-it is Essex and there is a culture of winning that can not be overlooked. Always big on the lines with playmakers. Coaching will make adjustments to utilize talent as evidenced by the change in O last year after a mediocre start to the season. Dangerous team to face when it all counts.
5. Sussex-young but athletic. This team has no fear and plays wide open. An early loss to contender Essex pointed out some areas to work on which have been addressed. Look out come November when the money is on the line.
6. PHGS-from afar I am a huge fan of what they do because its about overwhelming you with power running. Defense against the pass would be a question mark for me and if they make the state semi, they may face a very good passing Galax or GW team.

Sorry to get long winded and to any that I excluded. My feeling are that the champion will be one of the 9 teams mentioned in this post. Kind of hedging my bet by making that statement but to me these are the best programs in the state as of right now.

Riverheads is good don’t think anybody is good enough to say right now they going win it they will have to play the games. Who saw raiders beating the bears not me to much can happen in a game

I give all of Division 1 credit , it seems the Riverheads effect has caused several programs to rise up , I wish I had a private jet because this years playoff games will some of the best in years!

I don't expect the Red team to get much of a challenge in the playoffs, but I do hope the championship game is competitive. The games against Chilhowie were pretty terrible from a spectator's point of view. This year's Riverheads team is better than the previous years, so I'm not optimistic that the championship game will be worth watching. It may be a massacre.

Offensively I think theyre better but defensively theyre not there yet but with 10 new starters their is somewhat of a learning curve but I am confident Norcross will have them there by the time the postseason starts.

Its funny to me, Riverheads fans have gotten a rep for being arrogant, etc. And on here there hasn't been any of them that have said they are unbeatable (except for maybe their troll, depending on what day it is). There are fans across these boards who say things as if they have best team ever. But not from the folks in Greenville. Its fans of other teams who say it.

I watched the Cougars last week and from my observation The Red Team will have to play their A game to win ! Draft is faster , stronger and just better than Riverheads . I have only seen the Red Team twice and they have a long way to go just to match up . Draft has more talent . Plane and simple . All the talk of how good the Gladiators are is just that , talk ! jmo

If a team like Galax makes that game it will be at least somewhat watchable. If a "fun-gun" team in the mold of Chilhowie makes it then meh.
