The score for Dinwiddie isn’t indicative of the game. Their 4 star playmaker scored on 3 bang bang plays and then they scored a late TD when the game was out of hand. Yeah they scored 27 points but besides when Dinwiddie was actually down 28-21, there was never a doubt that Varina was the more complete team. Varina has dominated in the playoffs against three really good teams (Huguenot, Dinwiddie and Tusky). As great as Phoebus is, they have not seen much competition all year (Highland Springs and Warwick were light years better than any other team they’ve played). I think that’ll make some difference in Saturday’s outcome.
Of course I was being a bit snarky but I was also noting that there is a bit of a difference between a shutout and allowing points to be scored. The Hanover Hawks? Come on bro. They are no stronger than the traditional weak teams from the PD. Yes, I agree with you, things are a bit different in the last game of the season and for the second time Phantom fans have to watch as every team wants to be the one to end our team's 48 game winning streak. It is something that makes the game extra special isn't it?

Think a lot of people will f around and find out about Varina on Saturday night. Them kids are different and they’re locked in.. SCARY SIGHT.

If you are talking about this football season I think the majority of football fans can be forgiven but Virginia High School football has not been defined by anything going on at Varina especially needing two overtimes to lose to Indian River. I juat don't believe there is anything to find out that is not already known. You know what I mean?

The standards of excellence were set years ago, decades ago, by Salem, Phoebus, Hampton, Oscar Smith, Westfield, Stone Bridge and even Dinwiddie as they have produced one of the greatest team to win a title. There are even more schools to name long before you get to Varina with some already having won multiple state titles. You know for yourself that other versions of Phoebus have faced much better teams in the finals than the 2024 Varina Blue Devils. The Blue Devils have indeed earned the right to play in the championship but the outcome will be an extremely new line in a very, very old history book in the list of great Va high school teams. Let's not get carried away. Salem was a better team last year than Varina is this year.

Having seen Varina a couple of weeks ago I think they have what it takes to beat Phoebus, BUT they will have to be composed and focused. It will take a near flawless performance. No turnovers- don't even put the ball on the turf, very few penalties- no delays, no false starts, no off sides, no PI, and absolutely no PF or unsportsmanlike penalties. Basically don't beat yourself! I haven't seen Phoebus in a year, but I've seen a near flawless performance from them. If Varina can match that, then we'll see one hell of a ball game, like last year. I look forward to it! Good luck to both teams!

I don't want to get into comparisons too much because it leads us to nowhere when we got this amazing game coming up. But brother, at minimum this years Varina team is equal to last years Salem team. The defense is definitely better in my opinion. But again that means nothing for this Saturday at 5p.m.

What does them being equal to Salem last year mean? Just curious.

The law of average the winning streak will end one day why not Saturday!!!!!!
Hello and I hope you enjoy the games on Saturday. Last year there was some expectation that a team that was held in check by the Churchland Truckers for 1 half was going to walk into Darling Stadium and shutdown Phoebus. Hampton and Phoebus have had to go through long winning streaks ending. Both long games won in a row and attempts to win 5 straight championships came to an end. You are right. One day the winning streak has to end. Both of those past teams were phenomenal in that they accomplished such a thing. The question the supporters of the 2024 Varina are not answering (as if I did not ask it) is why do you believe that the 2x D3 and defending D4 champ is now a worse team than the 2024 Indian River Braves? This is an analysis I want to read.

Gotta scratch that IR game out your head big dog. Varina wasn’t 100% that game and it was months ago. Just like Phoebus, Varina has gotten a lot better as season progressed and are playing their best ball right now. I don’t even think Phoebus coaches watched that game.

One day you are gonna read something that I wrote and just say, "You know. You are right." Try to remember who predicted, 23 years ago as of now, what is happening with Phoebus. That was not you. That was me. The sad thing with many people on this site is that they cannot stand for someone or anyone to be right. Animosity rules the day. And apologies do not exist. It happened after Phoebus won the 01 &02 titles. When Phoebus beat Stone Bridge in '08. After Salem beat Lake Taylor in '15. People are offended by the facts as they exist. But season anomalies matter. The same as Phoebus' bad half against Bethel. That poor performance matters in that it cannot be repeated. The flags cannot be repeated in this game against Varina.

But Phoebus would need to be running at 30% and failing to lose to Indian River in 1 overtime let alone double overtime. I only bring up facts from season games to strike up the conversation. But you cannot tell me that season stats and performances don't matter. They matter until the last second runs off the clock. Ask Dinwiddie. Or North Stafford. Or Salem. Or Hanover. Or Stone Bridge.

@Phoebus Fan

Yall are too funny. If I remember last years championship board, Kenneth thought Salem was going to give Phoebus a hell of a game, while Phoebus fan thought Salem could not match up against them.

Now you’re flip flopped, Phoebus fan is putting respect on varina as a worthy adversary and Kenneth thinks the opponent can’t match up.

Get on the same page for once!

I obviously picked Varina to win this one, but it’s a shot in the dark. Phoebus could win by 21+ and that wouldn’t be surprising either.

I’ve been told by the program to STFU up here. But me and him are on the same page just different paragraphs

This Phoebus/Varina game will be a great game. I’m excited to see it in person. Also looking forward to the LCA/Kettle Run game. I think Kettle Run has a legit shot to beat LCA. Two great games on the horizon. Gonna be a great day on Saturday in Lynchburg

I watched a video not long ago about how the LCA head coach has cancer. The fact that he has cancer and is still going out there every day and spending time with those kids. That’s special.

3 of the top 5 schools in the state according to on3 playing in Lynchburg Saturday, only game they have close is this one. They got Phoebus 24-22 for the prediction, closest game from D3 and up. 1-5 they got Maury, Oscar Smith, Phoebus, Varina and LCA….. can’t figure out how to send a screenshot so here’s the link, just click on the schools for predictions. Idk what cal preps hate on Phoebus is…. https://www.on3.com/high-school/rankings/football/virginia/
