Just wondering if anyone knows how long the current coaches will stay at Riverheads ? I know they put in a lot of their time for our kids and I was told they don't get paid for any post season . Other schools get paid for playoff games . I think its time so show our support for our coaches and bring this to light . With a little incentive they could be here for a good long time . I know Other schools would love to have those guys. I would hope never to have to play against them ! Augusta Co. needs to catch up with the rest of Va. on this . Lets here what you think !

WOW!! Some actually get pay for playoffs. I don't think many in the west get anything. Just lucky to have somebody that will do it for so little pay. Add to that the lack of updating facilities. Examples:small weight rooms in old class room, no field house, half of a practice field. Playing field conditions bad also.

The boosters at all the west schools pay coaches 5000-10000 extra to just coach the regular season.

Just wondering how many of us would be willing to work seven days a week for an extra 5 weeks a year for zero $ and a pat on the back . I think Good coaches should be paid for their effort , regardless where the money comes from .
I wonder how many free weeks of work the coaches @ RHS have given in the past 15 to 20 years ?

It's a free market, don't like the pay....you can go somewhere else. The things people talk about on here are sometimes laughable.

There are some counties that used to pay a pro-rated salary for each extra week the coaches worked in the playoffs, and not just in football. I want to say that Shenandoah County used to be one, but this was 10 years ago and a lot may have changed. It would be a hard thing to do considering the budget crunches of the past few years.

But that doesn't mean those coaches don't deserve something extra for their efforts. The Salem and Riverheads coaches have worked three full seasons(30 games) over the course of the past two years.

Not that this affects 1A, but in Hanover County, you can be fired for taking booster money unless it is explicitly for work outside of your county contract.

Would be interested to hear how certain localities boost their coaches' pay.

I have heard about bonuses for titles and things, but never really found proof of such. I once heard about an extra 150 for getting coach of the year. I like the idea, but never found any real proof to the rumor. I know AD's have a way of padding their own salary, so finding a way to do so for a coach is probably no big deal.

Boosters can give coaches what ever they want to. As long as the coaches pay taxes on it or not. Cash is king.
