I did not personally attend any of tonight's games but from reading the newspaper's online account, it appears that the quarter-final round had a little bit of everything.
The wildest game took place at Wilson, where the fourth-seeded Hornets were hosting Nelson County. According to the paper, the Nelson pitcher tossed a one-hitter at the Hornets, yet Wilson won the game 6-4. How do you get six runs out of one hit you might ask? Well, FIVE Governor errors in ONE inning apparently was enough to do the trick. Wilson will now travel to Page County in the semi-finals.
In the other two games, East Rock beat Buffalo Gap 8-4 and R E Lee edged Stuarts Draft 4-3 on the road. ER built up an 8-0 lead in their win before the Bison made things interesting with a four-run top of the seventh. Meanwhile the Leemen had to work out of a bases-loaded jam to subdue the Cougars in that one. Lee and East Rock will play in the other conference semi-final. I am guessing that is to be played at East Rock.
