The Greater Loudoun 13-15 Babe Ruth Stars won the World Series today at Purcellville Fireman's Field with an 8-3 win over Westchester (Cal) before a very large crowd.
The team went 5-1 overall and did something not many "host" teams do and that is win it all! Congrats to coach Owens, his staff, and his players for their achievement.
Several of these kids were on the Woodgrove High squad that advanced to the Group AA, D4 semifinals this past spring.
It was also nice to see this team pull through after one of its top pitchers, Hank Biggs, suffered a severe concussion on Tuesday night after a hard tag up around his head at the plate knocked him out of the game. I heard the next day that he returned home from the hospital and will be fine. Just no baseball for a few months.
