I SECOND THAT!!! I was a political science major undergrad 25 plus years ago and have taught US Government for 20 plus years. These silly crazy political discussions on this board were absolutely ridiculous and have no place. Please more about recruiting, profiles on schools and coaches, debates about teams or all time teams.. All time great players.... Anything but that STUPID THREAD ABOUT POLITICS! It was pointless. If we want political propaganda we can go to Fox News/Fox Business or CNN/MSNBC. Please eliminate all political threads.
As we prepare for a season with/without football, I'm interested in what you want to see more of? Game stories and analysis will be available at some point.
For now, would you like to see...more discussion/opinion, more recruiting content, etc?
Point taken.I found nothing offensive at all. I get political debate but that is not what this board is for. Got to Fox News or MSNBC. You want to debate politics go on facebook and argue with millions of Americans. I have been on this board for 20 years and there is no need for ridiculous political debate. Love reading content about VA High School football at all levels. Love the recruiting information and I like to read about pre season previews. As I suggested we can discuss great teams in VA history or great players. Best game in VA history, best players we may have coached against. But that silly political stuff needs to stay on Facebook. That thread totally jumped the shark a long time ago.
It’s not really the posters’ fault either. Yes this is a high school sports board, but the moderators should’ve taken it down a while back if it was that much of a problem. And yet, you all kept reading it. It is one thread of hundreds on this board. Some folks hijacked it and kept trying to inject politics into a discussion. If it offended you that much but you had to keep going back and read it, then maybe the problem is with you instead of the topic. Again, if the moderators of this board thought it was out of line, then they would have taken it down. If enough people didn't report it and request it be removed, then what was the harm? All you have to do is ignore it. Just because something offends you, doesn't mean it offends everyone else.
At this point, I'd watch croquet. You men are really going through "no live sports" withdrawal lol. Go watch some Nextflix
That's pretty funny! At this point, I'd watch croquet.
Well, if nothing else, I'm always good for a laugh. That's pretty funny!
At this point, I'd watch croquet.
You must be from up around where I live. There was a picture in today's Winchester Star of a Clarke County Football coach scanning a kid's forehead with a temperature thermometer thingamajig.I saw a picture of a coach taking a player's temperature at practice. He was using a forehead zapper, but he was so close, he might as well have used a rectal thermometer.
How about a few "Where are they now?" stories. Most of us know about the guys that made it to the NFL, but how about those kids that were killing it in high school, but couldn't quite get that break at the next level, or injured, or made a slight misstep? Or chose a coaching path?
Virginia has had some remarkable high school football players through the years. It would be pretty cool to know where some are today, 20, 30, 40 years after they graduated high school.
Thank you! That's my exact point to those who are in denial.I've talked to two Superintendents, one from a NOVA area division and the other from a more central Va division and both said they do not see any close contact sports happening until at least January.
Personally, I could see golf happening, but not much else. Even in cross country...how do you pass another runner if you have to practice social distancing? The only way we will see sports is if all regulations are lifted. If pro and million dollar budget colleges can't work it out, how can we expect no budget and zero trained high schools to?
If you were going to do a where are they now story, I would be curious to know what Danny Davis of Rustburg, has been up to since his playing days. The first HS game I ever saw was the 1987 State championship game between Rustburg and James Monroe. I think he may have graduated in 89. He was a heck of a RB/LB. I think he is the best VA HS Football player I have ever seen. @bigrob2523Great Idea. Any names at the top your list?
Oh mercy....Great idea. Any names at the top of your list?
