What would have been a huge game a couple years ago is now an also-ran. Surprised several are picking Liberty to win this one. I'm gonna say Courtland by 14+. Doesn't appear as if either JV team for these 2 are doing anything either. Maybe a lull for these 2 heavy-hitters?

I think Courtland wins it, but I just don't see a high scoring affair. It does appear both of these teams are in a lull. Stand by, they won't be there long!

I don't expect Liberty to get any better anytime soon....

In my opinion southern fauquier isn't the hot bed for football anymore. I don't think Finnerty can maintain that interest in the old style Tommy Buzzo type football that Liberty is known for. I think the trend will start leaning more towards Fauquier with coach Prince being a fresh coach with sky's the limit potential with his coaching ideas

Most of Courtlands JV team is up on varsity this year as they are playing a ton of Freshman on JV. If Courtland had not been so devastated by graduation at the end of last year, most of these kids would be down on the JV learning the system, growing, getting stronger and gaining confidence. However, coach Hall had no choice this year but to play a bunch of youngsters at every position, including all of the skill positions, When this happens, and you play the schedule that they play you are in for a rough on the job training session. The thing that the Cougars have going for them is that they have a great stable coaching staff who will get everything they can out of this years team. This group (team) is very close and I can not wait until they are seniors. The JV team has a bunch of very good exciting freshman that will be impact players in the not so distant future. Furthermore, the middle schools that feed Courtland are just flat out loaded with young talented players. I have been to a few of their games and came away very excited about what will be coming up in a year or two. Courtland is fielding the youngest team both Varsity or JV in the past 25 years, they have been very lucky over the years to not get decimated with graduation losses like they did this past season. They usually had enough coming back each year to overcome graduation losses, with the exception of 2016! Mark my words, they will be playoff good next year, and highly regarded the following year. Stand by!!
Courtland 28- Liberty 21

If you are correct, and you may very well be, it would go against 20+ years of history and LHS domination of FHS.... LHS has dominated the county basically since It had it's first senior class, probably will not change long term... Southern Fauquier is blue collar country type kids, Northern Fauquier country club types.

The thing about the Fauquier schools is it doesn't matter where kids live in the county, players transfer schools like its nothing... definitely some recruiting going on inside the county.

Exactly... Just like when Coach Lloyd was at Kettle Run a lot of kids decided to leave Liberty and go play there instead. Those teams that battled with James Monroe yearly were a product of former Liberty players.

Recruiting is everywhere.....just something coaches have to deal with. Run a great program and people will come. If I was a kid in a county with multiple schools I'd want to pick where I wanted to go.
