All,
A couple items about Courtland if you have not heard yet. The county just approved moving the lines and the Cougars have picked up approximately 300 new students, all from Massaponax high school. With moving the lines, Courtland did lose a few to Spotsylvania high school, but the Massaponax move could swell to over 350 depending on if any Seniors move. A large housing development that was all ponax (lees park) is now Courtland, which should have been anyway. Spotsylvania high is also picking up a few from ponax due to thier swelling and over crowding numbers. Just the other day at weight lifting, a group of former ponax players showed up for training, very interesting! I need to gather info on players and position, starters or not, but the infused player talent will raise the Cougars predictions and some eyebrows. As for the field, new turf field is going in, might not be the smurf field as concerns with our home uniforms clashing with the bright blue field color, more to come. Courtland has just about completed to refurbish project which has increased the size of the school from 1200 max students up to 1500 or so. Excellent returning group, fantastic JV team last year and infused talent from ponax could make for an exciting season.
Talk soon, with more info.

Always good to have a massive enrollment advantage over the competition for a few years.

Yes -Loudon schools have benefited from that for many years. Many still benefit from it.

This looks to be permanent as the school has just about completed a large addition and upgrade to other areas. The housing construction around the area is booming and with Quantico so close there are always military transfers coming in. Stafford more si than any other county, but Spotsy starting to see that movement within the county.

So the students wouldn’t be grandfathered in at their current school? Lynchburg City did something similar a few years ago when LCA joined the VHSL. LCA was rezoned to pull from the Heritage zone within the city of Lynchburg but students at LCA that were already enrolled did not have to transfer to Heritage.
