A couple of previous Salem coaches were talking after the game, Coach White included, that felt pretty sure Nate Craft's 49 yd FG in the 2nd half was a team record. Does anyone know if that is indeed the case? (@SpartanOfYore this seems right up your ally as the resident historian of Salem Football on VaPreps) I looked in the program through the kicking records, but I didn't see anything listing FG distance.

I had the pleasure of finally meeting Nate tonight after the game, I congratulated him on his accomplishment. I met his parents and Nana late last year and the whole family is just the genuine article, great people.

Nic Schmitt kicked a 49 trader in his career.
* I think vs Northside...

I believe John Shelor hit one as well against Northside to put the game into 6 over times.

I was going to say that I thought Schmitt had hit a 50-yarder, but I honestly don't know. I remember Trey Shiflett bouncing a 51-yard attempt off the crossbar in '98, I believe.

Salemgal - could you possibly mean Brookville? Salem lost a six OT game to the Bees in '02; that's the only such marathon game the Spartans have played.

This was 1990 I believe I was a freshman that year and it was pouring raining. It was the longest game I have EVER be to. Didn't even make it home to see FFE bc it was so late and didn't have TiVo then. Haha
