Very good game in Greenvile, excellent game plan by Gap but we were fortunate enough to pull out the victory.
Also sounds like a tight game at the Hive with Luray proving to be a legit 1A contender by defeating the Hornets.
Can't wait for the medias take on the games, lol

Not sure I'd say Luray is quite the legit 1A contender that you say they are. I think they're a playoff team but they got stomped last week by a legit 1A contender. I understand that once the playoffs start anything can happen though. Honestly I see Wilson only winning 2, maybe 3, more games this season and finishing 3-7 or 4-6

Only reason I say they are a contender is that teams generally get better over the ten game season and I see the talent to get them reasonably deep into playoffs. If the playoffs go chalk then they make it to second round and it becomes a toss up on whether they move on. I like what they do but right now they are inconsistent or that was my take on what I saw.
I do agree about Wilson and it's tough to see in some ways. I believe there is talent there but we all have opinions on the problems.
As for the Red team, we are still not a complete team and that will have to be solved to truly be a contender in my opinion.

I'm with you gtown, I was really high on them coming into the season, and they still have time to get things rolling, but they aren't as good as I thought they'd be.

Wilson had their chances to win that game last night. Had a PAT blocked, and missed 2 field goals.

Wilson kicking game sounds about as solid as the Steelers.

I saw Trevor on the 2A board questioning why they didn't set up for a game winning FG. Maybe the fact 3 failed previous attempts were hard to depend on. I always trust coaches decisions on whether or not to send a kicker out there. If they don't think the kid will make it, use your normal offense to get you the points.

Tim I was questioning the not setting up the field goals he missed.

You have to remember this same kicker nailed a 35-40? yarder to put Wilson ahead in Salem last year 17-14 late in the game, but a defensive offsides cancelled it out and the play calling blah blah.

My point on Mcbee's kicks was if its 3rd and 9, why run a sweep to the narrow side of the field, instead of something towards the middle.

I do agree though I expected more out of Luray this year but they have the pieces, just need to be consistent

McBee has a great leg, but his kicks have been inconsistent, especially in pressure situations. He pulls them when the chips are down. I believe he missed 1-2 crucial ones vs. Riverheads last year. The kids a baller though.

I just know he nailed a pressure kick that should have won us a state championship but due to some stupid rules stipulation a defensive penalty negated those points.

Sorry I'm still a little salty lol

Believe he missed 1 @RHS but I could be wrong

I think you're right. He missed just the one in that game. They had a chance to kick another, but I remember the coach opted to run it instead, maybe because of the missed one earlier.

McBee does have the distance, I can't speak to his accuracy but if the coaches believe in the play they have called, why would they center it? Which hash were they on? If it was the right, I kind of agree with you. If they were left side and ran left I can see that play call. Generally speaking the left hash kick fits the kickers eye better. And if you ask some, you should never trust a kicker anyway, lol.

We were on left hash, ran off left side in 3rd and long. I just always like when the kicker is centered but the kicker may feel otherwise

It will be interesting how Wilson approaches the rest of the season. With only 1 win at this point, they may lean heavier on the underclassmen development. From what I heard, the first step of that began Thursday, but I could see it across the board after this loss.

We had a lot of underclassmen on offensive skill positions and loaded the defense with seniors. I personally liked the move. Luckily for them they get Stonewall this week!
