Bishop Sullivan moved on to the quarterfinal round of the VISAA D1 playoffs after defeating St Christopher's 73-66. Senior Lance Tebay scored 17 of his team-high 19 points in the first three quarters to help the Crusaders build a 15 point lead (51-36) heading in to the 4th quarter.

Tebay drained three 1st quarter 3-pointers including back-to-back triples that gave Bishop Sullivan a 22-11 lead late in the 1st quarter. The teams combined for only 20 points in the second quarter as the Crusaders increased their margin to 34-21 at the halftime break.

The Crusaders maintained their double-digit lead throughout the 3rd quarter and a dunk by Tebay midway thru the quarter pushed the lead to 45-29. Bishop Sullivan Tebay was one of three Crusaders to record a double-double as he added 10 rebounds to compliment his 19 points. Michael Barfield-Owens contributed 17 points and 12 rebounds while Logan Wells was good for 10 points and 11 rebounds.

St Christopher wasn't able to open up scoring opportunities for D1 commit Alexander Petrie who entered the game averaging 26 points per game. Petrie made only one basket in the 3rd quarter after scoring 11 points before the halftime break.

St Christopher's made a run in the final eight minutes and they cut the lead to six after two free throws by Petrie with 1:19 to go. The Saints stole the ball at midcourt but Petrie came up short on a corner three and the Crusaders made enough free throws down the stretch to pull out the victory.

Petrie ended a great Virginia high school career by finishing with 21 points and four rebounds. Freshman Joe Bamisile added 20 points including 18 in the 2nd half while grabbing 10 rebounds. Ameer Bennett had a double-double scoring 13 points with 13 rebounds.

Next up for Bishop Sullivan is a matchup with Trinity Episcopal on Wednesday; the #2 seed in D1.
