CS is giving game away in Glenver and u Glenver fans can say want u want. Glenver is weak against pass and #2 like always is the dirtiest high school football player I have ever watched. After four late hits they finally throw a flag on him. Glenver will win the game but as in past weeks they can thank other team for costly mistakes.

They play week 6 on a Sat and was 28 6 when I left but game much better then score indicated.

I respectfully disagree with you with a couple of points singlewinger. #2 did have 1 late hit but it wasn't at all flagrant and in fact thought it was close to being a no call. He jumped on the guy only about 1/2 of a second late.

Glenvar made a great goal line stand from the 1 and controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. Other than CS QB run up the middle a few times for big gains they couldn't run the ball at all. Thought a couple of role players stepped up tonight which is what Glenvar has been missing the first two games. Glenvar QB had a very good game. CS DBs couldn't cover our best receiver and CS couldn't contain the QB runs to the outside on 3rd down because they were so worried about #3 up the middle and their linebackers were cheating in critical situations. Overall reason for Glenvar win....Glenvar pretty much shoved the ball down Cave Springs throat. Cave Spring did have some good plays and yes the game was closer than the score but Glenvar controlled in the trenches. Don't know when they play but it will be interesting to see who wins between CB and CS especially if that is played before 10/10.

Also about the weak pass comment. Glenvar can be very tough against the pass and they were tonight on critical passing downs when they play a couple of players both ways. I think Coach Clifford is trying to develop some players and that is one reason they have been passed on this year. I wouldn't count on that with Giles. You will see Glenvars best players on both offense and defense.

Your right, we disagree on all that. CS MOVED THE BALL DOWN THE FIELD ALL NIGHT AND SHOT THEMSELVES IN THE FOOT. glenver is good up front, no doubt. Not as good at linebacker and if that's what u want to go with on the lack of pass coverage then ok lol.

It was 21-6 early in the 3rd crying out loud. Could have got ugly in the third if Glenvar hadn't "shot itself in the foot" (to use your words) with penalties. We all see what we want to see. Yes CS moved it some times well between the 20's but as far as I know you don't get points for that. You also don't get points when you can't score from the 1 yard line. You saw CS shooting itself in the foot. I saw a Glenvar players hit with alot of intensity which caused the fumbles, interceptions, strips and knock downs. Amazing we saw two different games lol.

" if that's what u want to go with on the lack of pass coverage then ok lol"

Yup. I'll go with that and leave it at that. Well see whose right in a few weeks.

Your right rewards...in a few weeks we will see..Giles has a good history of revenge games...Giles has to play 3 teams in a row that have bye weeks before they play them just to get ready...yours included...I'm sure it's just coincidence....

And so called goal line stands don't consist of first and goal from the 1 and CS fumbling hand offs in the backfield. That's called bad execution which they had plenty of all night. Look no one is coming on here and saying your Glenver team is not good, they are. I'm saying the game was much closer then the score. Glenver will match well against Giles because they are good against the run. However if Giles can keep passing the way they have been I see them having trouble. I also see them having trouble against a team like Radford who can spread them out use athletes in space. Your boys like every other good team we play this year have two weeks to prepare, from what I seen last night they will need it. I look forward to the game. However we have two tough ones before that. And just so u know reward, neither Giles or Glenver look anywhere close to being state contenders at this point.

Winger...I agree with you that Glenvar has a long way to go. I have been saying that based on how they played first two games. Looks like Appomatox and Richlands and Union are the strongest teams at this point. I have been disappointed in Glenvars performance to say the least the first two games. I thought they would dominate James River but they didn't. That is why I thought CS game was a good barometer of whether they were improving or not and I thought they passed that test last night and was happy to see it. Don't think CS "gave" anything away cause Glenvar still gave away way more penalty yards than CS.. Haven't seen Giles play but I also know that if they can pass, which it sounds like they have put that into the offense, they will be much tougher to beat. Also agree that Glenvar secondary is weak against short to intermediate passes but they can shut it down if they have to by playing more players both ways which they won't do unless the game is close/critical. They are not nearly as deep as they were last year especially with linebackers. Radford will be a toss up game..agree there also. Glad to see the focus in the area on Glenvar and Giles and Radford as much as the bigger schools this year. This has to be the year of the TRD if ever there was one.

Not coincidence. Thats just intelligent scheduling! Nothing wrong with that is there? If you were the AD and coach wouldn't you do the same against a team like Giles if you could?

I don't think Giles can win all 4 games in what might be the toughest 4 game stretch around this area...graham that barely losthe to Bluefield....galax who took giles to the end the past two years and shoulda coulda woulda against glenvar the very same way....glenvar the defending state champs that now has confidence after beating giles the first time in 20 years...and the old foe of Radford who apparently is much improved and always plays giles tough...the first 3 having byes the week before they play giles...but if giles makes it through then they are the team to beat...it will be very tough...if not maybe giles gets a second bite at the apple like glenvar did last year...it's a long season...injuries will be key...and there's many teams that are good....union and Richlands on this half of the state look real tough...long ways to go..

noticed Friday Football Extra Super 7 last night had 3 TRD teams in it. 3 out of 7 from one district. Of course, they will be beating up on each other before long, but that's pretty sweet for now.

[ All 4 of them have bye weeks before Giles-----Radford, Glenvar, Galax, Graham, as did Christiansburg. As you saw, C-Burg was very well prepared for Giles. The Spartans really had to open up the play book after falling behind 22-0 in the 1st qtr. But execution was pretty good on some plays we don't see very often.[/QUOTE]

Don't know anything about the game but as far as #2 goes he took cheap shots the entire state title game last year as well. Numerous times taking out our QB behind the play.

Also you want your team to peak the end of the season. I'd much rather have some early season struggles then peak at a good moment. There's a lot of parody in 2A this year an it's going to really show come playoff time

That's the one thing rewards is wrong on. He did it all game last night. The one the finally call a personal foul on him for the QB was down and he came in late with a elbow to the head. I'm sure u will hear a different account defending his actions but I have watched the kid play multiple games and it's always the same.

Took numerous shots behind play at our QBs legs. Seems like a good athlete and ball player, just seems to play a little dirty.

He plays aggressive no doubt but has never been ejected and rarely gets called for personal fouls therefore I don't think he has earned being called a dirty player. So far the refs agree with me and they are the main opinion that matters.

Are you talking about the same #2 from Glenvar who is First team All-State, and leads the Roanoke (Timesland) in sacks. The same #2 who is being heavily recruited by William and Mary, and the University of Delaware?

He's definitely an amazing athlete! I'm only judging him off the one game I saw. He was flagged for a personal foul in that game too.

Radford plays Auburn week before giles...but other 3 have byes
Roanoke Times football preview with all teams schedule has Radford playing Giles on Oct. 16th , after playing Floyd on Oct. 2nd, with no game scheduled for Oct. 9th. Then playing Auburn on Oct.23rd.

Yep...same one I watched at state last year and should have gotten at least one flag and probably 2...same player...

Your right...I said that a few weeks back and was told I was wrong...all four have the bye...guess when everyone is scared of you that's what they do...guess we're scared of narz

Yep same one....defend himself all u want...sugar coated it if u want...but he will get em as the year goes on...it's being noticed...you'll see..
I don't get defensive on here or with people in general very often. I respect difference opinion and in fact use that to form/change my own opinions when I am wrong. But I will stand and defend any high school player who is being mischaracterized as dirty. Those saying this on here have very little to nothing to hang your hats on..one late hit here..and most importantly the refs do not agree with you or they would have ejected him or thrown the flag numerous times. I hesitate saying this but I will to make a point. could say the same things about the Giles line. They cut block alot..about every play actually. That looks very dirty/illegl to me and has for years which tells me they coach that style of blocking. BUT the refs don't call it so it must be legal so I haven't said anything..in fact I RESPECT everything Giles does down there.

I would never call Giles dirty. I do hate the train whistle though lol and that IS illegal according to VHSL rules. lol

Here is a fact for u reward. Don't get me wrong because I like u and u have intelligent conversation on here which is what I like and u seem to know football. However I have watched him play four times in two years and he has had several personal fouls called on him and should have a lot more. He hits late, he constant runs that mouth and eventually it's going to hurt your team with a penalty that can be costly. When u find out and see it for yourself this year keep me in the back of your mind. I like u don't get on here and talk about kids but I was natural last night and CS fans were beside themselves at his cheap shots after the whistle and rightfully so. If a Giles player played like he did I'd be screaming to get his butt out of the game no matter if it was our best player. Fact is our coaching staff would not allow it. I think it's enough on that topic and let's talk football.

When it happens just rem

When it happens just remember to take the rose colored glasses off...those cut blocks as you call them are legal. ..I have seen him play 3 times...shoulda had 4 flags...only got one...two late hits...two for running that mouth...eventually it will get u in the end...it's ok if u don't see it...but my vision is good...coaches might just need to have a talk...probably a good kid...but needs to play smarter

Ok..agree we need to drop the topic. Lets see what happens. Proof is in the pudding.
nice to have a new rival.. hard to have a rivalry when you are 20-0 against a team that has never won your district. Have had a great rivalry with Radford for 35 years. they love to beat Giles and we love to beat them. Had a good rivalry with Floyd for about 10 years but they've fell off the competitive Earth and became whippin boys for the last 6 or 7 years. looking for a huge loud crowd and a good football game in about a month.
