I've heard rumors that something good is brewing there, and they could have their best team in many years. Can they be a factor this year? I feel like Eastern View's success is starting to inspire the Culpeper kids to work harder to compete, instead of just talking the talk, at least that's a logical thing to believe. They definitely have the athletes.

They should be able to compete well against the 3A teams. They made the playoffs last year and won some games. They did very well against James Monroe in the scrimmage last week, but some say that JM will be down this year, so we will see how it goes. The first 4 games (EV, Orange, Liberty, Kettle Run) will be tough. The rest of the schedule should be manageable.

Add riverside to that schedule now and you could be looking at a 5-5 Culpeper team fighting for the one seed in 3B. After last year it’s manageable. The real question is can the coaching staff make proper adjustments and be a difference in close games

Coaching will be the difference maker. I have not doubt that they have skilled players. Line-play has been the biggest issue over the years IMO. I don't think the O and D lines are coached in a way (or conditioned) to get the best out of them. They should definitely make the playoffs but it would surprise me if they get to the finals. They will have issues when they meet up with a high-powered offense.

They have a lot of their playmakers back, if the roster on Maxpreps is correct. Colclough and Staton had great games against Skyline last year. I think Hoffman did as well. Looks like a lot of seniors on their roster this year.

They should win 3B. 3B is the weakest of all 4 groups. Look at last year. Culpeper was an average team and made it to the regional championship. That tough schedule they play prepares them for anything they will see come playoff time.

That is correct. Add in a different qb along with the EV rb transfer Veeney.

Well.....I guess they were just "rumors", cause nothing good was brewing for the Blue Devils on Friday night except for the coffee at the concession stand. I really don't like criticizing people because it is a tough job, but the coaching staff doesn't seem to be doing a very good. I compare the Blue Devils to the Redskins. It feels like I've been watching the same game for the past 15 years and nothing much ever changes. There have been 4 head coaches hired since Sorrentino. I think all had losing records before they came, and a lot higher losing percentage when they left. The bodies are there (though maybe not for long looking at the number of players on the JV team this year). Maybe hiring a coaching with a history of winning a few games might be a good move.

Wasn’t gonna say it but I agree that’s the problem

That's why I made sure to use the word "rumors" LOL. It sucks though, Culpeper has the kids to have epic, down to the wire battles against EV every year.
