Dan River 85 Chatham 56

Taking nothing away from DR, but aside from the one win over the Wildcats earlier in the season, Chatham hasn't beaten anyone with a winning record all year.
Yes sir I understand completely where you're coming from but I look at it this way.. Chatham is a good 2a team. I can't say that they're upper echelon with Martinsville, DR (when they show up), Gate City, East Rock and Madison, but in 2a ball if you get a scrappy team that plays good defense then they can do damage. When Chatham is on, theyre a tough team to beat. They shoot the ball well, WHEN THEY'RE ON.

Always love these statements. Chatham was 10-2 coming into the game, with back to back losses to Randolph-Henry and Altavista after its win over Dan River. Please explain how to get teams in your district or conference to have better records so you can claim wins over teams with winning record. Who has winning records in Piedmont besides GW, Halifax, and Martinsville?

I was at the Altavista game. Chatham played 5 vs. 8 all night plus they were without a player or 2. Just couldn't weather the storm. SCRAPPY TEAM! I definitely wouldn't sleep on Chatham. They BEAT Dan River the first time without 2 starters and a key reserve. Last but not least, do you know how hard it is to win in DR's gym? It's not fun for the opposition. Chatham could pull quite a few upsets if this team gets to the playoffs. Coach Warren and Coach Lloyd have a good team over there. DONT SLEEP ON THEM!

Ummm, Patrick County also has a winning record. So does Franklin County. That's 5 teams out of 8 in the Piedmont with winning records .

Patrick County has played 3 of the same teams that Chatham has played and beat that counts for the majority of their 9 wins. Appomattox has not played half their games due to football so their record doesn't speak for their team. Dan River Altavista Chatham Appomattox tough teams all in the dogwood. 3 of which have winning records. And Appomattox will once they play out the rest of their games. Do doubt the Piedmont is tough with GW Halifax FC and Halifax. But they have some cupcakes in their as well in Bassett Patrick County and Tunstall has struggled all year long. Can't expect every time to have winning records in your district.

The Piedmont is top heavy so of course there will be "cupcakes", or maybe just teams with bad records because of who they play. I mean, my goodness, Bassett has to play their 4A conference mates which can be difficult. Then they get to turn around and run the gauntlet of Franklin Co, GW, Halifax and Martinsville within the district.

Either way, congrats to DR on the statement win. I believe the Wildcats will be a tough out come tournament time. That's pretty much a given. I'm just not sold on the Cavaliers at this point.

As much as I like this DR team I think they're down fall will be focus. I watched a little of the game and didn't like some of the antics. I didn't see much trash talk but in order to win you gotta be tuned in in all stages of the game. I also think that Bryson McLaughin is playing out of position. Just because he's 6'4 doesn't mean he's a center, not even close. He's a wing player. Zemar Anderson and 6'5 300 lb Tavin Fitzgerald are their big men.

I admit that some times it takes a little bit to get going. But when they go WATCH OUT! I'm pleased with how they are playing, especially since they lost a three-year player (Rodney Womble, who is now at GW but cannot play due to transfer rules) and they had a JV callup (Shamar Parker) transfer to Westover Christian (Parker is a solid 3pt shooter).
The guys, especially seniors Devin Stone, Zemar Anderson, Jaquon Durant, and Bennett McCann, have been playing together all through middle and high school and they have a great chemistry.

Tavin Fitzgerald is in his first year playing JV or Varsity (he wrestled last season). Good size but not a lot of experience. McLaughlin is a forward but has to play center. Anderson would be the ideal center if he was 6'4 or 6'5. He has great heart, skill, and a bonafide leader.
