Salem is attempting to win it's third state championship in a row. The Spartans went 14-0 and won it 2015. They went 13-1 and won it in 2016. If they are fortunate enough to win this year they will finish 13-2. This looks very familiar. In 1998 Salem won it and went 14-0. In 1999 they won it and went 14-0. In 2000 the Spartans did not look like a State Championship team losing three games (one given back because of a forfeit) and a third straight State title seemed far fetched. But the Spartans got hot at the end of the year and playoffs and won their third straight title beating a very good Park View team. It's not earth shaking, but the parallels are interesting.
