http://www.martinsvillebulletin.com...cle_4a2b345a-50e7-11e5-818c-2f4c3bfb1a55.html We had an article in the paper today. Not sure if you know who that person is at the end of the article, but that was a pretty cool jester from Dinwiddie.
Dinwiddie Proud A.K.A. Wayne Cook is one of the finest men ever to lace up a pair of boots. He was not raised with a silver spoon in his mouth, but has worked his butt off to make a comfortable life for his family. He consistently shares and never wants credit. Sorry DP tonight you have been outed. Just ask Mike from Salem about his generosity. The guy loves everyone and would give you the shirt off his back. Proud (parden the pun) to call him my friend. I guess that's just the Dinwiddie way and DP exemplifies everything we are about. We often talk about role models well aside from my father he sits at the top of the list.

That's an awesome thing there Wayne! I realized that you are a terrific person soon after you sent me an email.
Some things become crystal clear just from few conversations.... Looking forward to talking to you again soon!

Maybe the part about being there to see Salem was referring to the fact that he organized a group to make sure that I was able to get to the game last year. He and a few others generously paid the expenses for me to rent a wheelchair accessible van so i could see Salem play in the title game. He would have been there regardless, because he loves watching high school football, but maybe the Salem part was he was making sure I made it okay and to be sure I had everything I needed. That's just the kind of guy he is and he doesn't do it for attention, just because he's a real people person with a generous heart.

I had the pleasure of meeting him earlier in the year (2014) when Dinwiddie had a week off he made the trip to Salem to see the Northside game. I've always enjoyed meeting people from the boards as well and you will never meet a nicer southern gentleman than Wayne. It's been my honor to get to know him and call him my friend.

Wayne Cook is definitely one great man, his team smacked us in the final in 2013, but the best thing about that was I got to know Wayne. I am proud to call him my friend, and have utmost respect for this kind soul.

I am humbled and embarrassed by your kind words. The truth is, you guys set the example with your dedication, your respect for others, and the sacrifices you make to support your teams.

When I get my hands on Hope Thompson, it won't be pretty. I asked her to say nothing. Well, we see how that worked out. Seriously though, the real heroes are the Hopes and LeeAnnes that every team has. Ladies, and guys like these, are as essential to a successful high school athletics program as the fields and courts they play on. The untold hours they put in. The out of pocket money they spend. The extra they give that no one ever knows about. They deserve the real praise. I'm honored to just be mention with them.

Thanks again, guys.

(And no Devils, I was there to see football.;):(o_O)
