saw it posted on Shenandoah recent success thought I'd add in for the Dogwood...5th year in a row and 14th year out of the past 16 that a dogwood team is playing in a state title game....add into that you have Dan River, a program that has not been there, but has produced multiple D1 athletes in same district....Dogwood might be the SEC of small school VA football

It’s ridiculous that DR hasnt won a championship with all the athletes that come through there. Time to change up the I form and try something different.

I know it's too late now that they've renovated schools but I think Pittsylvania Co. should have built a big new school somewhere off of 29 and combined DR, Tunstall and Chatham. With the right coaching they could easily rule 5A in many sports and save money in the long run. Same with Rustburg and WC combining as a 3- 4A school. Especially since WC used to only have 250-300 total in HS.

or go back to 8 schools and they all play 1A.

Gretna, Climax, Renan, Callands, Whitmell, Brosville, Spring Garden, Dan River.

To much cost to have 8 schools ...the county couldn't swing it this day and time.
Kids get better education options/ course selections akin to the NOVA schools which in turn help them compete for slots in college acceptance. Rural schools usually suffer in STEM and Foreign Language relative to their peers due to this

The Dogwood is the best football playing district (per capita) (at any level for it's size) than any other district in Virginia. The numbers don't lie. What the Dogwood is doing rivals that of the Peninsula District in Hampton Roads from the 80s, 90s, 2000's.

or the Lonesome Pine in the 70s-90s

Now them two schools would definitely win a Trophy at the end of the year if they were combined....

Why dont Halifax compete well at 5A? they have some athletes down there. Big County that has a combined school.
