Yeah, but Clarke also had a ton of stupid penalties. Good clean game though, other than the refs not all being on the same page regarding penalty yardage.
East Rock has some areas that need work but are not horrible. They also aren’t what they were last year so I don’t know how to read this game in relationship to the district matchups. Sounds like Clarke and Luray are sitting in the catbirds seat with a surprising Page and Strasburg nipping at the heels. Can’t wait to see the next few weeks as this all shakes out. Congrats to Rutherford on a big night.
Agreed. 5 and 24 were running over us all night, they just couldn't put a sustained drive together. I gotta say, our kicker has a helluva leg. His kickoffs were consistently in the end zone most of the time. Even after a 10 yard penalty against Clarke on a kickoff, he kicked it 75 yards into the end zone still! Our punter had a good leg too!
Agree. They looked to me like they are still trying to figure out what they are good at. They will be a lot better in a few weeks.
Don't count out Buckingham and Luray.
Buckingham lost to 3a Goochland in OT on a controversial call and Luray is undefeated.
The winner this upcoming week between SD and Luray is in 1st. They are separated by 2 points at the moment. 3-5 won't gain much at all in rating this week. Buckingham has a chance to make big strides facing an undefeated Northumberland. And if Staunton can pull off a big upset then they will really gain

I just remembered something. Just before kickoff, the East Rock team filed onto the field carrying baseball bats and it looked like sledgehammers. What was that all about?
Team motivational/award items I assume. I didn’t see them use them against anyone so no big deal.

Hardest I’ve ever seen him run. CC ran two running plays with him, including one play 5 times in a row.

If you can’t stop it, keep doing it. That young man runs hard every carry that I have seen him carry the rock. He’s got to be an early favorite for BRD POY.
On paper they cant. Obviously they could pull off the big upset (although very unlikely). I replied to him saying that nobody was saying they would pull off that upset, but if they did they would gain A LOT of points. More points than the winner of SD/Luray game
