I haven't seen them, but they are a local team here in the area. Whereas Lancaster has 430 miles to travel to UVa-Wise, Eastside has only 10 miles to travel. They could almost practically walk up the mountain to the arena more or less.
Their best player is Derrick Cusano.
I think this is the first state tournament for their boys. The girls I think might have made it several years ago. Eastside is the consolidation of the former Coeburn and St. Paul high schools. They have only been in existence for about 5 years or so.
Overall record, I am not sure. Pretty sure they swept through the Cumberland Conference. They were region runner ups to Radford. They finished 5th place in a tournament in Orlando and 5th place in a tournament at UVa-Wise that we (Ridgeview) participated in, however we didn't play them. They lost to Honaker in the opening round of that tournament, but avenged that loss by beating Honaker in the regional semis.
