I wasn't there, but the game seemed to be very chippy. From my understanding the game was called with 1:25 to go in the 2nd quarter because of fights about to breakout and then the police had to go onto the field as well. I'm sure someone who was there can give better details. Regardless it's a shame that a high school football game can't be finished because of stupidity and nonsense.

I wonder if there were any ejections. That's a 3 game suspension if so

I blame parents, coaches and refs.
Parents don't hold their children accountable.
Coaches don't instill enough discipline.
Refs let things get out of control.

A couple police and coaches from both teams did a great job on getting things settled and getting each of their 11 players off the field. I personally didn’t see any players fighting. Just a lot of jaw jacking between Westmoreland player(s) and maybe fans in the same corner of the end zone that Essex scored in twice. Both times, it was something going on.

Another Class 1, Region A game that is either not played or doesn't go 4 quarters. There seemingly isn't a week that goes by in which there isn't at least 1. I've never seen anything like this that I can recall.

The final score was actually 47-8. I saw no fights. From what I was told the two kids at the end were rolling on the ground but apparently no punches were thrown. Decision to shut it down was a correct one. Westmoreland had 1 player ejected and another had an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. Essex had 2 15-yarders called against them but no unsportsmanlike conduct infractions

A reliable source who has 1st hand knowledge of the event said “a Westmoreland player was ejected in the first series for throwing a punch after a hold call.”

“The interception run just before half had a block by Essex player near the goal line and the Westmoreland player got to scuffling and the Westmoreland side line cleared to enter the scuffle… not a single Essex player left their sideline and maintained discipline…” supposedly another Westmoreland player threw a punch in the end zone during the scuffle as well, can’t confirm that though.”

Good job to the Essex players that stayed on the sidelines. Being that the benches were right behind the team, I could hear them telling one another “keep our cool, we have more to lose than them.” Well done team & coaches.

I'm very happy to hear that Essex did the right thing. That's outstanding leadership!

This is not completely true, there is video out there showing an Essex player body slamming a kid and then the madness begins. Of course, no one is going to say that there side is wrong but there are 3 sides to a story, Essex, Westmoreland and truth. PS: I have no dog in this fight, my wife was watching the game online and played the video back for me!!! I was focusing on the Ravens and Bucs, lol!!!
