Who is going to make their way to the state title game this year? Both have made it back to this point again. I have had a chance to see both play this year in person and had to opportunity to scout Essex a few times including this past weekend at Rapp. Essex played a good game from what I saw but I think Rapp had a bad day and was missing their star running back after the 1st qtr. The game could've been a lot different but here we are. I still stand on what I said previously about Altavista being the better and more dominant team. It helps that they're at home this year and I don't think Essex is ready for what's in store. Ladainian Stone is a 6'1 240 back and I don't think this years team is ready to tackle and deal with him or the other guys for 4 qtrs. The qb and other backs run hard and are just as fast as anyone in the state. Ja'corian Davis is just as fast as any back that Essex has and faced I think Altavista controls the line and will be more physical. I think this year ends differently

Man you’re funny, you also said middlesex was going to give Essex trouble…keep it up, you’re giving the Trojans motivation. A majority of these players were on the same team that played against stone last year.

Yeah and I was wrong and Middlesex was without some players to that night but if you think Middlesex and Altavista are the same team you are mistaken, The heartbeat of that team last year was #5, he isn't there

Not comparing teams, just pointing out how much you’ve been overlooking Esssx. 0 points allowed in the playoffs, pretty good for a team that’s not tackling.

Was Davis the player that got chased down by #3 Hence from Essex? Any input to the championship game? You seem to be spot on with all your predictions.

You seem to enjoy my post lol, no Hence ran down #4 for Altavista, but if you want some bulletin board material which is all it was for, then here goes. Essex can win as long as they don't get over confident and play ball. I feel like last year they came in over confident and were beat by a team in Galax that wasn't better than them. Grayson is a very scrappy team and have played well, you don't make it this far being bad.
Essex can match with them, however get caught peeking in the backfield or playing too far off in coverage (10-15 yard cushions) and they will take advantage of that as a spread team. I think Essex faced just as good of skill players playing W&L in the spread and they had majority small receivers as well. Essex problem in the secondary has been they are in position but they dont always play the ball but instead lets the defender catch it and than make a tackle, play the ball and communicate on the back end, get aligned before the ball is snapped and pay attention. Altavista had some drops and an overthrown pass that couldve been scores and swing the game a momentum early. Cant let that happen against Grayson. Loved the play call on the pop pass to open the game up but passing before halftime and it being a pick was getting too cute. Run it in..play hard for 4qtrs and its Essex game..btw...

I do enjoy reading your material man! All good in my books! Definitely agree with your take on what needs to be done. I might come off as very ignorant and could be very wrong but I think Essex has played 3 better teams than Grayson this year.

Westmoreland who will be division 2 next year from the NNK district, Rappahannock, and Jamestown who is a 4a team were very good competition this year for Essex to get prepared for these games here. I feel like Rapp prepared Essex for Altavista and Westmoreland and Jamestown will prepare them for Grayson. You just cant overlook anyone though. You start fast and finish strong. Essex knows what its like to be upset so they better not take it lightly. Its like a heavy weight fight...all it takes is the knockout blow and if you let it go too far you leave it in the hands of the refs...neither team made it this far to lose...this is not an easy task to make it here.
