Essex Football Question

Lol….Never that. One of these days we’ll get that win if both teams keep meeting. But not this year “IF” we make it that far. Lol
No one was missing for Essex that I know of. Essex always has a bullseye on them here in Region A. Teams tend to come at Essex hard. That’s what happened last night. Both teams looked rusty in the 1st Q but once W&L started to score, it gave them fuel while Essex was still sputtering. Here we are with one game to go and I don’t think Essex has gotten in rhythm yet due to all the gaps between games and missing multiple games. That and the fact that W&L is a pretty solid team. They have a good run & passing game, good O & D line, good QB with a nice arm, tall WRs 6’2” that double as DBs. They’ve only fell 3 times this year. One was to current #2 seed, 2A King William and the other to current #2 seed, 4A king George. Forgot who the 3rd team was. They matched up with us very well.
The 3rd loss was 22-21 to Brunswick. Yes, Essex seems to have been impacted heavily by these pauses, delays, etc. They looked on their way after the Jamestown game and then came the COVID pause then the suspended game, etc. Have apparently not been the same since.
And Essex is really inexperienced this season. Only 3 players were starters in 2019 when they last played. Typically they have around 15 -- if not more --- seniors. Monday night was senior night and I believe they had just 8 recognized and 1 of those is strictly a kicker.
