Crazy sequence. The Altavista punter drops the ball and gets a bad punt. Essex takes over on the Altavista 14. On 2nd down, Altavista picks it off and takes it all the way back to the Essex 2 yd line and scores 2 plays later. Tied 8-8 with 23 seconds until the half.
Altavista attempts a FG but misses. 8-8 at the half.
Essex has had some missed opportunities. They had 2nd and goal at the 4 yd line on one drive, but after a delay of game and a big loss, they came away empty handed. Then they had the ball late in the 1st half at the 14 and threw the interception that lead to the Altavista TD. The Essex defense has only allowed two first downs. One on the first drive of the game and the other on the big pass play with seconds left. But credit the Altavista defense for hanging tough. Essex has moved the ball, but only 8 points to show for it. Essex receives the ball to start the 3rd

Both teams are ridiculously athletic, but my gosh, the execution is horrible. Both teams are playing hard however
