Central(Woodstock) Vs R.E.Lee(Staunton)
Gate City Vs Graham

Central is well coached and very talented. They gave Lee fits and were in position to win that game in the Region Final. I think this will be a very close game. I think if Lee brings their A game for four quarters they will win it and head to Richmond. I know no Lee fan is overlooking Central. I expect nobody on the Lee roster or coaching staff is either. I'll say Lee by 3.

Graham shocked a lot of folks with their win over Gate City. I think it was more the way they did it. No doubt that they are a well oiled machine, well coached and very talented. They play very solid defense too. With that being said...Gate City looked better than ever in their impressive win over Radford. Gate City rebounded the ball and played very good defense...quieting the critics of these areas. Also they were a little more balanced in scoring. I think Gate City is going to come ready for this one and to be honest I don't see them losing it. Another close game but...Gate City by 5

That would set-up a Gate City Vs R.E.Lee title game and that would be in most people's opinions outside of Graham and Central lol...the best title game. To make that game happen both Lee and Gate City will have to get through very difficult tests.

I actually think the four best teams in the state made to the final four this season. Should be a fun Tuesday night! The winner of the trophy in Richmond will have certainly earned it...no doubt about that. Good luck to all remaining teams...and bring it back to Staunton Leemen!

Nice write up leemen.

The only slight disagreement I have with you is the 'best four teams" made it to the final four.

I still think the C/D half was loaded.......and probably had 4 teams just as good as anyone else in the state.

But Lee/Central/Goochland still deserve their just dues.

Thanks Pizzzzza. I do agree some good teams got knocked out that may have been better overall. I think Dan River has to be mentioned in that category. How do you see the final four playing out?

As good as Radford was, I believe Graham's D is better. I believe the loss opened the eyes of some of the players but it will still be a tough, low scoring game. I believe GC will escape, and I do mean escape, with a hard fought win. GC has to take what they done to Radford and carry that over to Graham. The role players have to score when they have their chances and they have to rebound the ball. The D has to do what they did Friday as well.
It's a game like this that I wish the VHSL played the final four at the same site on a back to back night.

Well...as far as how I see the semis....

I think Lee got lucky to beat Central, especially with Vaughan out for a lot of the 3rd period.
I believe that got outscored 18-2 with him out.

So "if" he can stay out of foul trouble, and the team continue to play like it's 'capable', they should pull out the win.

Otherwise, look for Central to advance.

On a side note, for some reason, Lee never seems to play very well at Spotswood HS...don't know why.

Gate City - we've been saying this is their year to win it all - and here they are - one step further than last year at the moment.

But a REALLY good team stands in their way to get to the finals.

Last year Lee outlasted the Devils in a QF thriller.

Even though Graham won the last matchup, I seriously believe that was a MAJOR wake up call for Gate City.

They seemed so much more at ease in their last game with Radford - which I think needed more height/rebounding, or the game could've turned out differently.

Also, the supporting cast came through big time for the Devils against the Cats - probably one of their better games by the non Big-3.

I see Gate City advancing this time.......and that's certainly NO disrespect to Graham.

Should be a classic.

Both Lee and GC by 3 points.

If it's a one man show, GC likely loses. But if Ervin can add 17-25 and Dean can get 10-15, GC will win. If McClung is only GC player over 15, Graham wins.

We agree again. Don't make this a habit BW. Your spot on in my opinion. McClung will get his and to defend them, you have to guard the shooters on the perimeter in Dean and Ervin. It seems like Dean is the point, but McClung certainly comes to the top of the key/5 second area in the middle of the court, and gets the ball with nearly every halfcourt set, and Dean rotates to the wing with Ervin on the other wing. Keep these two in check, and you have a chance, even if McClung gets 64 like he did against Dan River.
Going to be a great contest.
