I would have Northside , GW and Salem in front of LCA, considering they have played consistent VHSL competition are proven strong teams. LCA needs to earn it IMO

Yeah this is a list made by WSET channel 13 out of Lynchburg. Appomattox does return a lot of their skill positions so they may make some noise. I don't think Giles is even considered for this poll because Pearisburg is a little out of Lynchburg's viewership range.

Salem looked better than Magna Vista in their scrimmage. Whoever decided this for WSET did not watch the scrimmage.

This poll reeks bias. No way Appomattox should be ranked over Glenvar the returning state champions who have almost all of their players back...and Liberty over LB? I doubt it seriously.

JF makes their case as a top 2 team (they did beat Salem in the Benefit Game even though there are some different opinions on that), and Magna Vista loses 5 receivers in which their offense depended a lot on with them being a spread team (they do return a lot but certainly not better than Salem, JF, or GW).

Our kicker missed 3 FG and an extra point, he kicked them so hard with such velocity it was hard to tell whether they missed or not. It was a good evenly matched game that may have a Part 2 in November or December. Hoping it will be at Salem so I can watch!

LCA had 3 losses last year ( agree it was against some elite competition); BUT less than half their starters are returning. How can any fair minded individual put them at 3 and above Salem (Only loss in 4A finals and stacked), NS (also stacked) and most of the others. Did LCA get some potential D1 transfers? That would be the only way they would deserve to be #3.

LCA may turn out to be a very good top team but Channel 13 needs to do a little more due diligence. The only poll that really matters begins tomorrow.

With respect to this type of ranking, the Richmond Times Dispatch does a similar thing. It is basically meaningless. They rank public, private, big and small, all in one ranking. And just like close2salem and Amherst 1 said, it reeks of bias. Richmond schools get heavy favoritism.

VirginiaPreps is the best I've found. Gilliam's is good, also.
