As reported in another thread, the Tuesday night slate got wiped out by weather, but two of those are scheduled to be made up tonight, and I think the other two will be played between now and Monday. So those comments and predictions will stand for those games.

As for the Friday the 13th session, I have to get an early start on this post, as I will be out of town tomorrow. That night will have some potentially interesting match-ups. Here they are:

East Rock at Buffalo Gap: It will take more than a black cat running across the road in front of the Eagles' bus to change anything about this one. Not sure what the final was the first time they met, but ER wins this one by a minimum of 25.

Page at Wilson: By the time this one is played, the Panthers will have taken out their frustrations about last week's Stuarts Draft game by pounding the poor little Bison in tonight's make-up game. So that could be a good news/bad news kind of thing. They might get their swagger back but maybe too much of one, which might allow Wilson to catch them napping. So I see this one as being fairly close, but I still expect Page to come out on top by about 10.

Luray at Stonewall: Again if these two have met already, I don't recall hearing a score. If I am not mistaken, the Dogs still just have one win on the season, whereas Stonewall is above .500 on the year, and good for them. With the home court advantage, the Generals should be favored, but I don't see it as a runaway. SJ by 8.

Stuarts Draft at Riverheads: This could be the most intriguing game of the evening, for a number of reasons. First of all, SD also has a make-up game tonight up at Luray. So we will find out if the 110 they laid on Page was a one night only Super Duper game, or if they are going to make a habit of it. But I am not going to wait for my predictions and will just go ahead and say that I fully expect the Big Red to give them a game Friday, and possibly even win it. Here is why I say that..........

First of all, the Gladiators came within 17 at the Draft and held them to "only" 85 points. Secondly, the Big Red will be well-rested because they have not played since last Friday. Thirdly, there have been three occasions since the Cougars went to their current style of play when they have handled RHS at the Draft but Riverheads won at home. So that tells me that the Gladiator staff can adjust to the Cougars' style of play. This year's Riverheads team has the quickness and the shooters to stay with them if they can just get off to a good start, avoid the intimidation factor, and gain some confidence, and they just might do that.

For you regular Big Red fans, there may be an added treat Friday night. I cannot make any promises but I have received an inside tip telling me that a certain Riverheads dignitary might be making a first-time-this-season appearance at that game, and might even be sporting a new hairstyle for the occasion. So just look around the home stands, and if you see someone you haven't seen yet this year, and you spot that new 'do, then you will be able to tell your grandchildren that you were there that night!

Best of luck to everyone Friday, whether or not superstition has anything to do with it!!!!

Stonewall and Luray have not met yet this season....still on the first round through. According to district website, Luray has 2 wins (Gap and Strasburg).

And Draft has scored 100+ three times this season (114 against Stonewall is the highest)

Thanks for the clarifications. When I posted my reference to Stuarts Draft, I was fully aware that they had scored over 100 on two other occasions. So I guess I was thinking of it in terms of the 110 points (at Page) and the caliber of the opponent being a "one time only" combination. So if they are about to make that sort of game a "regular thing," then the rest of the district could really be in trouble!

As for the short-changing of Luray, I see now that the H'burg paper posted the district standings in yesterday's edition, but at the time I posted this morning, I had not yet read that issue. Hard to believe we are the midway point already!

I see from the score of tonight's game up in Luray that the Cougars might be trying to tell me something..............
