John Garcia went yard twice and Denbigh Patriots defeated the Warwick Raiders 5-3 in a battle of Newport News schools.

Thomas Morgan homered in the fifth to break a 3-3 tie and Keith Mays, who committed to play baseball at Messiah College, finished the game with four shutout innings to get the win.

Garcia had a hand in 4 of the Patriots 5 runs. Tim Perry scored the first run of the game on a grounder to third by Garcia who later scored after a ground out by Patrick Prosse. Garcia blasted a solo homer in the third and he added a solo shot in the top of the seventh that gave the Patriots a 2-run cushion.

Warwick scored all their runs in the first three innings. Triston Stuples led off the bottom of the first with a walk and scored on a double by Christian Sola. Stuples also led off the third inning with a walk and scored on a homerun to right field by Jahleel Sewer that tied the game at 3-3.

Dallas Bevins took the loss for Warwick. He allowed six hits, five walks, and three earned runs while striking out seven. Mays had also allowed five walks for Denbigh but he allowed only two runs and four hits after relieving starting pitcher Ben Sifen.
