That 11-0 run at the end of the first half by the Devils was the difference in the game in my humble opinion.

Lee never could catch up after that.

Gate City played really well.

GC was playing a 2-3 zone and when Vaughan got the ball, it was a 1-4 zone, lol. He got frustrated some with the missed shots outside by his own team. Additionally, you could see thst he was surprised with the play of Ervin. Im sure he expected Mac, but the players of Ervin and Ervin's s boring and finishing ability seemed to take him back a bit.

Erving showed how well he co plemented mcclung the skip pass was there and Lee did miss a lot of open jumpers but Lee didn’t get the benefit of the whistle when driving. Vaughn had 14 and 12 at half, the same player didn’t come back after halftime. #14 stepped up nicely but he and vaughn couldn’t maintain it while defending mcclung and Ervin’s onslaught of dribble handoff and drive offense. The fouls were in GC favor but when you slash to the rim and hang as mcclung does you get those calls BC they look worse than they are Mcclung shot 19 free throws Lee as a team shot roughly around 10. Out the half GC went to a 4 corners to shorten the game and Lee’s trap sped them up to get them the ball back and chances to scrap back in but around the 4 minute mark before mcclungs dunkfest began vaughn was frustrated and on defense freelanced to speed the game he left the rim and GC took the easy layup off the reversal and drive. I am not blaming him but when he was off the floor the Leeman struggled most, that’s where the end of the half run game. He’s a special player and a rare talent like mcclung at the 2A level, they needed him and when the refs swallowed their whistle and allowed them to play under th basket and he couldn’t convert and1s the game changes. The leeman played well mcclung and Ervin scored more, and GC as a team played better.
