Gate City @ Union 2/7 (Change of Plans)

The big rematch between GC and Union has a new wrinkle in the plans. This game will be played at UVa-Wise now and slated for the same start time which is around 7:30. They are expecting a huge crowd at this game and from what I've heard they don't think the Union gym will even be close to being able to hold the crowd. I think I seen where Union only holds around 1500 (or maybe it was 1250) so for that reason they have moved the location to Wise. Wouldn't be suprised if this was one of the biggest crowds that Wise has ever had. Be the game to go see next Tuesday night if any of you guys live in the SWVA area. I expect it to be a close one....But I think not having the game at Union might benefit GC a little bit to get away from their home court .

I see where UVA-Wise holds 3,000. Very nice arena too.

Will they fill it?
Whatever GC holds was not enough for the first game. I would think GC holds a good bit less than 3,000.

I think GC holds like 1750....But I'm not 100% sure on that. All I know is whatever GC holds it wasn't nearly enough. Would have needed probably 500 more seats to have held everyone that showed up for the game at GC. People started turning around and leaving when they were told there wasn't any seats left....And they started telling people that at 5:30....no telling how many people went home. I lucked up and managed to find a seat.

I don't think the GC/Union rematch will be a capacity crowd at Wise......But it won't miss it by much. I'd wager there will be somewhere between 2000-2500 people there.... More than likely on the upper end of that number. The only thing that may drop numbers will be the fact it's onna Tuesday night instead of on a Friday or Saturday night.
