George Mason Questions

First of all, for Riverheads folks and anyone else that might be interested, there is a separate website just for George Mason's sports program. I don't know how to link things but you can find it by Googling, as I did.

Having looked over that website, I have three questions that hopefully someone can answer:

1) Did they really play the same school (Falls Church) three times within a three-day period over the holidays? That just seemed a little odd.

2) The website says that they play their games at a middle school. Is that located within the same complex as the high school?

3) I understand that there will be a boy/girl doubleheader that night. But in conference tournaments, the boys played first in most cases, around here at least. Does anyone know yet if the boys game will be the first one and if so, what time it might start? Of course given this weekend's big snowstorm, I guess we cannot even count on anyone being ready and able to play by Tuesday.

No, they didn't play Falls Church three times. It was a Holiday tournament played at Falls Church High School. They lost to Yorktown High School (Arlington) in the tournament final.
The middle school is immediately adjacent to the high school. You could throw a baseball from the high school and hit the middle school!

What about the GM team? Height, shooters, quickness? They must be good to have only one loss.

It's been many yrs. since I've been to Mason, but, if they still have the same gym, it's a terrible place to watch a bball game...the stands are high above the court, and if you sit up high, u can't see the entire gym...I do think that Mason does have a very good team however...as far as any details, I really can't say

The most impressive thing in that gym is the championship banners. Last time I was up there, I counted 45 state championships in various sports. However, one of the coaches advised that the last state banner (listing another 15 titles) was not up, bring the total to 61 state championships.

The Mason basketball team is very disciplined; the run a harassing but controlled press; they never take bad shots; the main rotation is all juniors; they are all about the same 6' to 6'3" (without one exception if I recall accurately); they all shoot very well; there is no drop off in substitutions; and they are VERY WELL COACHED.

Mason used go have a good fan base but during the BRD tournament, I doubt Mason had 50 fans in the seats. Too bad about that, they have a good team.
