42-7 Loss against Glenvar. They have some good athletes if they get in space and scored the first td in the first quarter.but seem to struggle on line play especially in the 2nd half. Glenvar ran very well against their defense once things settled down. I thought the game would be much closer like it has been over the past few years. .They will test the Giles pass defense/secondary for sure. That is the strength of the offense.Know nothing about James river, what do they have?
I'm out of the area this weekend, so I'm giving my spot to you Friday night, so treat it with loyalty, honor, and respect. My guess is Giles will have about 500 or more there, but not a lot of visitor seating there. By the way, just out of curiosity, what does your screen name mean? This is a bad matchup for James River. If their line play and run defense are not their strong suit, Giles will have a field day. This could end up like 63-13.
I wonder how many Giles fans make the trip. It's the closest game Giles will play in the regular season to where I live, so I plan to be there.
To be honest I think Giles has taken a few steps back the last few weeks. There is a lack of leadership, some kids are ok with where they are instead of getting better and all around lack of concentration. As bad as it hurts me to say it Giles just is not very good right now. If they pass well I look for them to give Giles a tough game. That being said I think this team has the ability to be really good. Right now just not a lot of fight, leadership, willingness to learn, and a bit lazy. Hoping to see them take a step forward this week instead of back.JR is not bad on defense. I doubt serioulsy the game will be that lopsided. If Giles doesn't have a strong secondary for play option, or a strong pass rush/blitz JR could score far more than 13 points. They were forced to triple team one Glenvar player which made their line look like swiss cheese at times.. Good Luck to Giles

I hate hearing that but sure they will come around by Glenvar. I know Glenvar is far from playing it's best game but I like the leadership on the team and the coaching staff has been superb. No discipline issues this year to speak of.To be honest I think Giles has taken a few steps back the last few weeks. There is no discipline issues with the kids. They are a great bunch of kids. They just have to learn to get a killer instinct and be ready to play from the first kickoff. If Giles would have played the last four games in the first half like the did the second half scores would have been crazy. I'm just not sure why they wait or figure they are in a dog fight before they get it in gear. It's not coaching. I have faith they will figure it out before it's to late.I hate hearing that but sure they will come around by Glenvar. I think you may be a little too tough in your assesment. The last 3 games were against some pretty good defenses, and although not dominating, Giles has been able to answer scores with scores. That's important. The defense has played pretty well in those 3 games. Now that being said, Narz, Floyd, nor Radford looked to have a very good passing attack. Bottom line is Giles has got to start getting some production from fullback and wing back, just about nothing from those 2 positions in the last 2 games. Biedleman is having a hell of a year, but he shouldn't have to carry 46 times a game like last week.To be honest I think Giles has taken a few steps back the last few weeks. Nope, been that way all season. Granted they are young but some of the kids need to grow up. I did like that they came out and played well early for once but like u said we gave up to many plays on defense and all because not getting lined up correct or bad tackling. Once again it's lack of focus because it's all gone over in practice each week. That being said I seen more emotion in pre game last night and first half was better. Keep getting better is all we can hope for.Bumping this since I finally got a chance to see them for myself. I saw exactly what you described. Horsing around on the sideline, missed assignments on defense, lack of focus. This is not what I'm accustomed to seeing from the Spartans. I thought the "non-Beidelman" backs actually played well, but the team as a whole lacked intensity and motivation, especially on defense. Maybe it was because they were playing JR, but they better tighten up for Glenvar and the postseason.
