Giles VS Appomattox - Postseason 1st Round

Not taking any game lightly.
The young Raiders will be ready to play and will give the Spartans they're best that night.

I'm a Giles fan and appo will win this game by 28+ points...Giles is just way down this year plus a ton of injuries...think I read 9 starters out for year....smaller schools can't handle that

Oh well injuries part of game and hopefully we'll be back next year

We will have the privilege of losing to the Raiders for the third year in a row. Man that trip to Appomattox is getting old. 2 1/2 hours and Friday afternoon traffic on 81 and 460 is awful. Raiders can win by whatever they want to win by. Coach Smith is a class guy and I don't look for him to run up the score but not sure we can stop the 2nd team either. We started with 26 or 27 kids and lost about 9 to injury. We've had guys playing multiple positions all year especially on the line. JV has been practicing with the varsity most of the year just to be able to have a full practice. We aren't saying this because we hope Appo will let down their guard. Just the unfortunate facts.

There is some good from this match up ! In the past seasons when these two teams play the winner has gone on to win the state championship, the last 3 for appo and in 2013 for Giles ! Just a thought !

Very true...just hope we can get you guys one year when we are a little better than this year and may be we can win another lol

Nothing but class from the Giles fans this year. I'm not saying it's different from any other year. But when you are down like they are it's easy to have a "sour grapes" attitude. They have kept it classy.

Thanks man...we have been very fortunate over the last 40 years..it was bound to happen at some point...no need getting upset...coaches and players doing all they could, it just wasn't out year...hopefully we will be greatly improved next year

I dont see it being close. Giles has had a tough season and made the most of their situation.

Sad to hear about all the players injured. I work with a Giles guy over here in 757. He told me that participation is down this year for Giles. Its surprising....I have always applauded Giles and Riverheads on how many kids come out to play in reference to student count. I know it sucks coming to us 3 years straight. May the best team win, but you are playing an Appo team that is young. That is the advantage you have in this one...

Would love to know who you work with? Last name if you want us good enough

Giles has been fortunate through the years, both in coaching and having good athletes. The school has had tremendous support. Things did not work out this season. For the first time since 1987 Giles is going to have a losing season. Thirty one years is a long time to go w/o losing more games than you win.
Maybe someone else can look ahead to the next time the Spartans put a winner on the field. My crystal ball is kaput on the subject. Participation was way down this season and with the losing record I wonder how many show up next summer. Someone brighten my day with a few posiitive vibes towards the future.

In my observations over 40 years, on average it takes 4-6 years to build a program from the ground up because you have to build the pieces. Give Cburg another 2 years and you will see a winner IMO. The coach down there is very good and building it up the right way but it takes time.
If you have a great program like Giles, it usually only takes 1-2 years to turn things around. The pieces are already there.

forgot to mention...i dont think the Raiders have played a single wing team all year. another disadvantage and it showed on first drive by Giles.

Raiders can move the ball on the ground pretty much a will but Lordy that passing game ! Ugly , just has no confidence at all. Would have thought that may have improved some. I know everyone says he is just a freshman but may need that some down the road ! Need to work !! Reps reps reps !
