Riverheads sent eight batters to the plate in the first inning, put up a three-spot, and never looked back as they pounded their neighborhood rival in a 5 2/3 inning game that ended abruptly under the 10-run "slaughter rule." Zach Roberts knocked in the first RBI with a solid double over the centerfielder's head, and then fittingly ended the game with another double to almost the same spot that gave RHS its final two runs.

Roberts, along with Taz and Colt Miller, had three hits each as part of a 15-hit attack that the Gladiators enjoyed off two SD hurlers. Not only did Riverheads hit at will and score at least one run in all six of their at-bats, but the Cougars helped them along by plunking five batters and even a balk led to a run.

John Dudley had his second straight impressive outing as he held the Draft to four hits in going the distance. He had a no-hitter going through four innings before the visitors touched him for two harmless runs in the top half of the fifth. Riverheads led 7-2 at that point, added number 8 in the bottom half of the frame, and then exploded for their final four runs in the sixth.

Next up for RHS is a make-up game Monday at home against East Rock. That one may have no direct impact on the regular season crown or the conference standings but the Big Red could certainly use the win to boost their confidence going into the post-season. They are now 13-4 on the season.
