Glenvar at Galax

Great game! Glenvar looked like the better team but Galax is just discipline and in great condition. Galax looks small but are very tough as usual. Glenvar has a lot of talent and they can be a deep playoff team if they tighten some stuff up, especially in the passing game. Same with Galax, they have a pretty good running game but not like past years. 9 does run tough but they got stuffed a lot. , Galax also has small receivers and DBs. They can ball, but I could see some matchup problems if they play a solid WR/QB combo. Especially if that WR has decent size.

I was not expecting this. A lot of preseason hype for Glenvar(yes I did take part in the hype) but Galax knows how turn it up a few notches in the big games. Hopefully my Spartans can be competitive next Thursday when the Tide comes to Pearisburg.

Yeah, it really was like Galax just rose to the moment and came up clutch in crunch time. This game really could have gone either way but Galax just outplayed Glenvar in the fourth quarter.

Glenvar by far had more size and total overall speed than Galax. Glenvar is a legit class 2 contender who can throw the ball as good as anyone I have seen in a long time. Although tonight Galax even though they made a massive amount of mistakes just out played Glenvar. Galax completely shut down Glenvar run game.
Despite being way outsized on the O and D line they opened some great holes and stuffed the run as well as got pressure on the QB. The Glenvar coach said it best after the game , this didn’t surprise him at all. Don’t let the outcome of this game fool you Glenvar will be dangerous this year.
You spoke the truth when you said Galax is undersized at DB and receiver. I for one would move the Cox kid back to receiver as he was their best receiver last year which gives you speed and size. And put the freshman phenom back at QB and let him learn . Besides Giles the rest of the next 3 or 4 games are all non conference so it doesn’t matter if they lose them. It will give the kid experience and be ready heading into the district play.

Galax has been undersized on the back end for the last several years and has been one of the weaker spots on D but they work hard and usually pull through. I was impressed with how hard Galax played last night, I know they had heard all week that they were going to get beat by 2 or 3 TD's. I knew Galax was going to better than most thought but with all the hype surrounding this Glenvar team I was surprised with the outcome of this one especially down a starting lineman and DB. I had said that we would get beat by 2 plus TD's but these young showed up and played with heart and didn't listen to what everyone was saying. Galax has to stay healthy but has the ability to make another run and Glenvar will be tough out for anyone and will make plenty of noise come playoff time. On a side note Glenvar has to get #9 on the outside more touches, pretty sure that young man can be a game changer. Rumor has it we will travel to Giles on Thursday night and hopefully we can keep the momentum going.
