Glenvar JV team was able to complete thier undefeated season with a 24-17 win over Giles. Glenvar JV team has only lost 1 game (Lord Botetourt) in the last two years. Future looking good for the "Highlanders".

They have a pretty good jv team, I went last night. Giles had best lineman out, also center was out due to having to play on varsity tonight and starting tailback, dB did not play second half with a concussion. Just like the two varsity teams they are very equally matched. Good games ahead for those two it appears.

Heard that our center was out....next couple weeks should be rest weeks...play the starters for one quarter n let em rest...hear we got 3 out right now...2nd team needs the practice and starters need the rest...

Yea starting center got hurt so jv guy had to come up this week. He is cleared Monday so should be fine. Also had several really sick this week and not playing tonight. Three games in 12 days was rough on whole team and all against great teams. I'm also hoping for some rest time over next few weeks.

This is just more evidence that Glenvar is here to stay. Some people on here have been saying Glenvar will go back to being what they were and Giles will reign supreme after this year because of all the seniors. Glenvar has some very promising young players in the pipeline waiting their turn so don't count them out next year. Others recognize that Glenvar and Giles will both be better because nothing motivates more in the offseason than the sting of defeat against your rival or knowing that you have to work hard to stay on top. I would love to go to the state championship game every year and cheer on whoever wins between the two.

How did Glenvar get to where they are now? Different coach, talent cycling through, change of O and D schemes? Just wondering where all the production has been coming from last few years.

Great coaching did it and they built it right. Coach was not looking at Glenvar as a stepping stone like so many others before him. It took current coaches 8 years to climb the mountain. Glenvar was on the verge 3 out of the last 5 years but had key injuries/bad luck//shoulda woulda coulda reasons. The 2010 team was the best of the bunch talent wise IMO; 2011 team was really good also but top 2 players were lost early in the season. In 2014 everything finally came together at the end of the season which surprised everyone including myself due to so many disappointments over the years.

Watched Glenvar play and don't think they are the powerhouse they were last year. Good coaching goes a long way. Glenvar may be favored but won't repeat as state champions. Under different circumstances they should have lost to Grayson week 4. They were held to just 6 pts. until almost the end of the third. GC was inside their 25yd line 4 times and play calling killed their drives. They do have a few good athletes but not like last years team.

Glenvar Defense dominated this game. Grayson QB was running for his life the entire night. For you to say that Grayson could've of beaten Glenvar is laughable. Grayson didn't even score.. Anything can happen under different circumstances. If I would've had chosen 2 different numbers in the lottery, I could've been a millionaire.

If your are comparing last years team to this years team then you have to also say this years team beat an undefeated Giles team in reg season 16-14..last year lost 33-0. Last years team barely got by a Radford team without Finely (if my memory serves me right) in OT. This years team controlled the game throughout even though Radford had Finely. This years team is coming together at the end just like last year. The role players in my opinion are a strong part of this team just like last year. Everyone is buying in and every player I know of is very hungry just like last year.

Unlike last year the 2A west is more mature and loaded. It will be difficult to repeat but because of a strong defense Glenvar can do it again and one of probably 6 teams that can win it.

Richlands, Appomattox, Union, Giles, Buckingham, Glenvar, and James River as the late season sleeper, are all going to be tough to beat. The toughest spot to get out of the West are the 4/5 with the 3/6 a close second. I predict at least one of these winners will get to Salem because at least one will knock out the 1 or the 2 and both west teams will advance to the finals.
