Nope....I think Grafton wins. It won't do anything to squelch the crowd that buys into the "PD is far more superior than the BRD", but at least we'll get a fresh rash of new excuses.
So, PD fans are stubborn idiots for not changing their minds if favored Grafton wins but, if Heritage wins, it just proves that you are smart for seeing that Heritage under-performed AND BRD is still good.
I like your I win-I win stance, it's a good position to be in, if you can get it.
Ah....thanks for the twisting. You aren't seeing the things from the BRD fans perspective, or hearing the talk in public from the PD fan base. It's all good though. This isn't a "this year" only situation. On another, much more inferior message board and on a now-defunct local board the talk has/had been pretty hot and heavy. And downright disrespectful at times. Maybe my opinion is driven by righting by revenge? I'm good with that. Won't be any chest thumping on my end however because God knows the PD teams have a ton more hardware in the trophy cases than any teams in the BRD. History is on the PD's side.
I think Grafton wins this week. Period. No over/under. Grafton. That's my pure and simple pick.
My belief that Heritage underperformed for the majority of this season in no way sways my opinion of this weeks match-up.
How is that a win-win for me? My opinion. And I don't need your or anyone else's seal of approval to formulate that opinion. I have seen both teams play this year and in my opinion, Grafton wins this week. And if they don't...pass the pepper and hot sauce for the crow. I'll gladly eat it.
Here's a show stopper for you. I think Smithfield OVERperformed this year. Why? Head Coaches that are making their debut as a first time as a HC typically struggle for a year or two. I'm hopeful that is a positive sign for the future. Time will tell.
You established the "rule" that if Grafton wins, the PD fans should admit that the BRD is strong creating a situation where their opinion should be formed by the outcome of that game.
However, you are not making the same concession towards them.
You're taking the favorite in the game and claiming that, if they win, perception should change. However, you gave yourself a nice out by describing Heritage as an under-performing team, therefore, should they win, you get to say, "See, I told you so".
"Rule"? Not sure I agree with that assumption on your end. No rules. Opinion Rod. Strictly opinion.
HOWEVER - if you were truly interested in forming a viable argument against my "opinion", you could VERY EASILY conclude that a Heritage win would bring about me pointing out that I clearly and candidly shared my opinion that the Hurricanes underperformed all year, hence....no big surprise should Heritage earn the W. But I won't go there. Grafton is my pick. Hell or high water. Grafton. A win by the Clippers will not sway the PD fan base. EVER. And I'm good with that. That's their opinion. NOTHING I say or do will sway that. And I'm good with that also. Banter and opinions. That's all we have here. They don't take care of my family, or my bills. Anything beyond that in my life is for fun and hobby. No sleep lost ever, over a "GAME" played by kids. I just hope for a clean, injury free contest. PERIOD.

The only loss by Heritage that was "bad" was the Gloucester loss. Loss to LT, Phoebus and Hampton expected as graduations losses impact. Just missed beating Woodside two weeks ago. Loss to a good Bethal team was by 2 points. For most of my BRD teams if they played those 3 this year, most would have 3 more losses. I expect a 37-35 type game swing either way. Yes I also do get tired of the BRD bashing by some on here but since I never see a PD game I cannot compare the two leagues personally. Maybe if we scheduled all of our 1 game OOD with the PD we could solve all perceptions. They are all a fairly short ride too. Just my opinion.
